Informative and loaded with great historical stories that allows you to see, in your mind, what other books were only hinting at. If you're into Black genealogy this is a must read. It clearly explains the shuffling of families from one plantation to the next then state to state then country to country.

A tad too heady for my taste but yet informative. The narration was well done and some how kept me interested in this book/audio. But I did crank up the speed to move it along.

We were in Virginia about to head home to NY when we bought the Audio book. We speeded up the book and skipped some of her droning stories. It did make the long ride easier.

Nothing really new for those that are sadly following this mess. It's her life story, some White House details and how batshit crazy Trump is getting.

So I'll just assume the interesting details are in the so called tapes.

This the 3 times listening to this book and I'm sure there'll be more.

The information and history of New York and the war are laid out in a crisp picturesque style that grabs and walks you thru the streets of New York and the many facets of the Civil War.

Problem starting due to narrator's strong brogue but once I listen closer the stories and information came alive with great details.

If you want to know how messed up the White House actually is this is a must get. I'm very curious as to why I didn't hear anything about Omarosa.

I walked. I talked. I drank and fought and hunted Lee with Grant. I suffered through his personal battles and even more through Reconstruction. Then I marched up Broadway to 122nd Street and stood next to Sherman and cried.

Jonathan and crew did a marvelous job of narration. I read this book some time in the 90s and this audio was way more enjoyable. Actually it's not what I remember. I can't even think of how I would have understood such a book like Snow Crash but I did say it was the 90s.
