The 1968 US presidential election was the young Lawrence O'Donnell's political awakening, and in the decades since it has remained one of his abiding fascinations. For years he has deployed one of America's shrewdest political minds to understanding its dynamics, not just because it is fascinating in itself but because in it is contained the essence of what makes America different and how we got to where we are now.

A wonderful job by Lawrence which left me pleasantly surprised. Unknown (to me) details, multiple perspectives, and an honest positioning of how and why things happened. It’s been said that history is a great teacher if you pay attention. In that light, this is required content. You will be informed, frustrated, and entertained.

In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

The words of this book are every bit as descriptive as those of his songs. He wraps you in his life, shares details with surprising openness and candor, lays himself bare to his readers as he does to those he performs for, and makes no apologies. And like his shows, I'm sad to hear it end but feel better for investing my time with him and the band.

Long live rock Bruce!

Eight years on from the biggest market meltdown since the Great Depression, the key lessons of the crisis of 2008 still remain unlearned - and our financial system is just as vulnerable as ever. Many of us know that our government failed to fix the banking system after the subprime mortgage crisis. But what few of us realize is how the misguided financial practices and philosophies that nearly toppled the global financial system have come to infiltrate all American businesses, putting us on a collision course with another cataclysmic meltdown.

If you can handle the truth, sit down, strap in and hold on. Rana's research is superseded only by the logical presentation of the facts -- truths that political spin doctors and private moneyed interests may take issue with -- that include clear cause/effect examples which contribute to the economic situation we face today.

As a newly impacted worker who is late to the LinkedIn party, I bought the book looking for tips on how to effectively create my page to help with my job search. While these were included, the book included contained information and strategies that will help make me a more competitive, effective, productive worker. I'm sure I will refer back to the book for reference as my career continues to evolve.
