Eric disappeared when he was three years old. Ben looked away for only a second at the grocery store, but that was all it took. His brother was gone. Vanished right into the sticky air of the Florida Panhandle. They say you've got only a couple days to find a missing person. Forty-eight hours to conduct searches, knock on doors, and talk to witnesses. Two days to tear the world apart if there's any chance of putting yours back together. That's your window. That window closed five years ago, leaving Ben's life in ruins.

Not a bad book at all.I found it intriguing how the story of the boy missing went on as if there just was no reason for it.Which explains the moment of surprise when everything that happened on the day the boy went missing was revealed.

An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

To me,he made another winner here.I was engrossed in this tale from start to finish, chapter after chapter.I even listened to it in bed, putting the timer on my Audible app to not miss anything when I fell asleep! I felt sad for the coach whose life was ruined, yet enjoyed when the narrator did Lovey's voice. She reminded me of my dear Southern grandmother who I miss greatly.I can see myself listening to this one again just to hear that character.King has a real gift for touching ppl with his books.

I liked the story line but found that this book did drag, making it seem longer than it had to be to tell the story. This made it hard to keep up with how things ended up with the main characters, which I honestly still don’t get,due to the constant rehashing of the original incident then going to the present while introducing new names without saying who they are in the story.

The hero of John Kennedy Toole's incomparable, Pulitzer Prize-winning comic classic is one Ignatius J. Reilly, "huge, obese, fractious, fastidious, a latter-day Gargantua, a Don Quixote of the French Quarter". His story bursts with wholly original characters, denizens of New Orleans' lower depths, incredibly true-to-life dialogue, and the zaniest series of high and low comic adventures.
