Amid rising gang violence, the crack epidemic, and police brutality, a group of unlikely voices cut through the chaos of late 1980s Los Angeles: N.W.A. Led by a drug dealer, a glammed-up producer, and a high school kid, N.W.A. gave voice to disenfranchised African Americans across the country. And they quickly redefined pop culture across the world. Their names remain as popular as ever: Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube. Dre soon joined forces with Suge Knight to create the combustible Death Row Records.

Not the fault of the book, but I had just seen the documentary film *Unsolved* on Netflix and wanted more details on the story. I read through parts of the first 20 or so chapters, hoping the story would get going, but it never did, at least not for me, and I gave up trying to listen to it.

I would have returned the book, but Audible is not permitting it.

If you could sum up Hell Divers II: Ghosts in three words, what would they be?

Evocative creating of a possible post-apocalypse existence, shot through with horror, but also hope.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hell Divers II: Ghosts?

Towards the end, when possible salvation is revealed with the promise of a continuing story.

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

HIs voice and dramatic rendition of the story are excellent. His (possibly a speech impediment) in being unable to pronounce contractions is a distraction, however.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Occasionl laugh, though the gags were a little hard to swallow.

Any additional comments?

Listen to this book if you like adventure and the imagery of a possible post-appocalyptic existence and will not be distracted by every mispronounced contraction (it was difficult for me to do so).

If the same reader narrates the next book in the series, it will probably dissuade me from buying it.

I've enjoyed all the Scudder books, wish there were more, but their aren't. There is more Block, though. Hit Man pulled me right in. I enjoyed it more than anything I've read by Block; a wonderful character even with his sinister career.
