It’s rumoured that Dickens wanted to return to his classic novel Oliver Twist, to bring him back into a later book as an older character, but he never managed this before he died. However, if Oliver had returned, what would he have been like? Would the scars of his childhood affect the man he would become? And what of ‘Dodger’, sent to a land halfway around the world, his friend, mentor and master dead because of Oliver? Dodge & Twist is that story. The tale of two boys, 12 years later, returning into each other’s lives - for both good and bad.

The story shows how lessons from the past affect the present through a story of present day and and the time of Hitler. It’s a story of mistakes and forgiveness; a story of doing what is right even if it cost you your life; of remembering God is always faithful. It will touch your heart.

This was my first Dee Henderson book although I’ve meant to read some before now. I always heard how great she was and I was not disappointed. Although the title leads you to believe you will be reading about a kidnaping, and it was, you fully expect to go through the incident and all the attempts at locating and rescuing the victim. However, it goes in a totally different direction. It puts into perspective why God allows certain bad things happen in our lives. It also shows the role of true forgiveness. Well worth the read and I will read it again.

The complex, deeply binding relationship between mothers and daughters is brought vividly to life in Katie Hafner's remarkable memoir, an exploration of the year she and her mother, Helen, spent working through, and triumphing over, a lifetime of unresolved emotions. Dreaming of a "year in Provence" with her mother, Katie urges Helen to move to San Francisco to live with her and Zoe, Katie's teenage daughter. Katie and Zoe had become a mother-daughter team, strong enough, Katie thought, to absorb the arrival of a 77-year-old woman set in her ways....

One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. There were areas however where they could have tightened the story up a bit and not let the FBI look like bumbling idiots. Didn’t they wonder about the autopsy. Also the US attorneys office. Didn’t they want to know how the lawyer knew so much about what was said between the final witness and the paralegal. Come on, the only ones in the room were FBI. Story and subject matter were great.
