When a fragile peace breaks down and promptly devolves into a rapidly escalating shooting war between Pakistan and India, the U.S. must intervene. With only hours remaining before the conflict reaches a deadly point of no return, the White House must find a way to shut it down immediately or risk the likelihood of a new global war. A radical cleric has become the democratically elected president of Pakistan and uses a brutal incident in the Kashmir region as an opportunity to ignite war with India. The highly lethal conventional war spins out of control when Pakistan initiates a nuclear attack.

This is my third book in the Dewey Andreas series. The character development, exquisite and surprising plot twists make these books very difficult to turn off. I am thoroughly enjoying this author and intend to go through all of his books. While I have listened to numerous books by authors writing in this genre, it is rare to find work this compelling. I am delighted to have discovered Mr. Coes.

I have been listening to all of Harlen Corben's work. In his preface, he indicates that this is one of his earliest works and that you might want to read something else that he is written. To the contrary, this is one of his best and is quite captivating. It is very hard to put down and much better than his comments would indicate. I really enjoyed this and would recommend it to anyone.

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some 20 years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied jointly by Nazi Germany and Japan.

I watched the first season of the Television series and thought that the book would be as good or better. Fortunately, the television series was only loosely based on the book, and the book was nowhere near as interesting or as well developed as the series. Much of the book consists of the characters introspective examination of their respective psyches. I soldiered through to the end, but I am relieved to be done.

The saga begins in tribal, pre-Christian Ireland during the reign of the fierce and mighty High Kings at Tara, with the tale of two lovers whose travails cleverly echo the ancient Celtic legend of Cuchulainn. From that stirring beginning, Rutherfurd takes the reader on a powerfully imagined journey through the centuries. Through the interlocking stories of a memorable cast of characters we see Ireland through the lens of its greatest city.
