I really enjoyed the second book much more than the first. There are multiple plot twists and it is much faster paced than the first one also.

Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

If I would have known this book had so many sex scenes, including detailed rape, I wouldn't have downloaded it. Never finished listening to it, what a waste for all the great reviews it has.

If books had ratings this book would be rated R. If you're into that for sex scenes, I'm not so I couldn't get through it.

We're here, then we're gone, and that was true before they came. That's always been true. The Others didn't invent death; they just perfected it. Gave death a face to put back in our face, because they knew that was the only way to crush us. It won't end on any continent or ocean, no mountain or plain, jungle or desert. It will end where it began, where it had been from the beginning: on the battlefield of the last beating human heart.

This book was easier to follow than the last book when switching back and forth between characters, it sometimes still took me a minute to realize who it was. The author does an excellent job of creating havoc and mixed emotions as the characters continue on their journey. Of course there is more tragedy and the some of the actions the characters take frustrated me and I wanted to scream at them, but the ending was phenomenal. These books are well paced with plenty of action. The last fight between Cassie and Evan was epic and I never saw that coming! I would have preferred a happier ending but in all he sums it up really well. I really enjoyed reading this series.

This book does not have a happy ending and I realize there isn't always a happy ending, however, I want something positive to come out of a story I read. I didn't get anything from this book, it's just tragedy after tragedy. Ugh. dissapointed. There was only one scene of love making which I appreciated. I don't need those kinds of details.

This was an interesting story if you don't mind jumping around a lot. She has a lot of interesting characters but doesn't take the time to explain things very well.
I'm glad it was free.
