In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

The book is just a comedy of errors with British humor. Lots of sexual jokes, lots of insults. There really is no driving factor for the characters, just a series of events and angry programmers who hate their coworker who is a screwup.

The main character is enjoyable to listen to, the bad guys are psychopaths who are in real life Psychopaths too, they just relish causing pain. Raises the questions of could video games create real life murderers? Really creepy. The secondary character behaves like a 12 year old girl and is annoying to listen to and everything is slowly getting darker.

Not sure if I will buy the second book.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn't take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves.
