Ella Ginsberg's brother, Simon, has disappeared. His clothing, shoes, and watch were found abandoned near a freight line track in Central California. His jockey shorts and wallet were never found. The police have no clue, and Simon's wife had no warning that anything was wrong. Ella takes off on foot across much of California and Arizona, thinking she can find Simon using nothing but her knowledge of the way he might think. Her search leads her to the Navajo Nation in Arizona.

Marvellously atmospheric tale of strangers summoned to a grand but neglected villa on the Italian coast. Each of them has been named in a will, but nobody knows their benefactress.... Four very different people are named in a will. Delia, an opera singer robbed of her voice by illness; George, an idealistic scientist who cannot face what his skills have created; Marjorie, desperately poor and unable to dislodge her writer’s block; and Lucius, ostensibly in control but whose personal life is in chaos.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I kept waiting for it to get going...

Has Villa in Italy turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

How could the performance have been better?

The upper crust British accent was a bit much

Any additional comments?

This was such a boring book. I kept waiting for it to get started, I finally stopped listening. I had high hopes for this book, as I love anything to do with Italy.

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

I love this book. I have listened to it 4 times. The narrator makes it so enjoyable. I love her voice.
I like that it also takes place in the sixties. The author certainly caught what it was like to be young back then. It is one of my favorites!

During those four years, he went from being a reluctant guardian to a fiercely loyal watchdog and friend. Looking back, Clint Hill tells his story for the first time, offering a tender and tragic portrayal of how a Secret Service agent who started life in an orphanage became the most trusted man in the life of the First Lady who captivated first the nation and then the world.

Where does Mrs. Kennedy and Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

8

What other book might you compare Mrs. Kennedy and Me to and why?

I like listening to history stories, but I still have such a fascination with the Kennedys. It was one of the better stories in the history genre.

Have you listened to any of Jeremy Bobb’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I enjoy listening to his voice. He is a good narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I am so glad Clint Hill spoke out about his time with the Kennedys. Those of us who were alive during that time, (at least me) were fascinated with them. This book took me right back to that time. I think Mrs. Kennedy was truly a great woman! She is sadly missed.

I have just finished " Summer in Sciliy". I found it to be a most haunting love story. It was not drippy or sappy. It had substance. I was thinking about it even when I wasn't listening to it. I feel Marlena de Blasi's voice was perfect for the reading of the story. It was soft and very enjoyable to hear. A must listen.
