I had pre-ordered this book just because it was the next release. After it showed up in my library, I went back online remind myself what it was about and while on line, happened to read some of the reviews. Some were less than complimentary and complained about the lengthy writing about the abuse suffered by the children. I really feel that background was an important part of learning who Zane, as well as all his family members, were and what they overcame on the way to who they became. I feel that Nora did a fantastic job in dealing with an uncomfortable subject. Many people who are uncomfortable with the subject of abuse are the same ones who say (or think) “Well, she or he must have done something to deserve it!” Well done, Nora, in writing on a subject that needs to be out in the open!

Another great read From JD Robb. An excellent story line-kept the reader's interest and excitement all the way through. A story line right out of life in so many of our cities and with so many of our youth. Susan Erickson's narration is always done well and keeps the reader on track with the various good guys and bad guys!

Ripley Todd just wants to live a quiet, peaceful kind of life. Her job as a sheriff's deputy keeps her busy and happy, and she has no trouble finding men when she wants them - which, lately, isn't all that often. She's perfectly content, except for one thing: she has special powers that both frighten and confuse her - and though she tries hard to hide them, she can't get them under control.

Read this series a number of times and I love the books. But the narration on this one seemed to have a very very very long pause between chapters - to the point that almost at the end of every chapter I had to look over at my phone to be sure t,hat it was still on because the pause was so long.

It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But one person wasn't satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait - and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling - at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive firefighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. She’s been fighting fires since her eighteenth birthday.
