Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother's web in an attempt to maintain control over his country - and his prisoner. As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. I thought this was the last book of the series but I was so wrong. This book redeems the series, by far the best book! The first half is slower but still interesting, but then picks up and keeps going that is until another cliff hanger. I don't think I can wait for the next book to come out!!

A great sequel. I didn't expect the book to carry its own when sequels come out you think it will never be as good as the original, but I surpassed all expectations and holds it own along with weaving the story we fell in love with in to its own captivating story.

This series has become my favorite book series. The way chima writes is magical just like her books. If you like fantasy books like Harry Potter, Lord of the rings, and Game of Thrones this book series is for you.
