I bought this audio a couple of years ago during a 2 for 1 and just now got around to listening. Wish I had gotten to it sooner! Awesome book, several stories that come together and combine to make an ending that is sometimes tragic, sometimes hopeful. I rarely give 5-stars, but this one was really worth the listen..

This is my second time to read/listen to this book and I love the story. This is one of my favorite sci-fi murder mysteries, but I absolutely detest the fact that Bailey calls all the robots "boy." It was first published in the 1950's, so it was quite true to the time it was written, but there was no excuse for the way that term was used then and it bothers me to hear it now.

Since the protagonist is male and the book is written in first person, it seems to me that the narrator should have been male. Erin Bennett does a good job, but I think it would have been better with a male reader.

I thought it was horrible and sadistic. It was well written, it held my attention, but like the children, I thought things would get better and things just kept getting worse and worse. I will not be continuing with this series.

AWESOME!!! For anyone that loves video games. Great listen. Wil Wheaton does an awesome job! This was my second time to read, well listen really, to this book. It was just as good this time as the last time I read it. I'm not sure that non-video game players would love it as much as I do. I am a faithful World of Warcraft player and when my boys were young and video games were first making their appearance, I was right in there with them playing and trying to beat the game. Where other parents were ready to go somewhere and yelled at their kids to turn the game off during an especially critical time, I understood and let them finish the level before making them turn it off. Sometimes we were late to places, but so what. This book has that feel. Also, the world of Oasis sounds fantastic to me and I think we are getting there - shopping malls on line, schools with interactive video (WONDERFUL idea), and unlimited video games, lol. I can't wait :) “AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY”

Where does Marvel’s The Avengers: The Avengers Assemble rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It did a fairly good job of introducing the Avengers and their fight with Loki, but not enough action.

What other book might you compare Marvel’s The Avengers: The Avengers Assemble to and why?

The other Marvel junior novelizations. This did a bit better of telling the story. Still, it was just like telling the story without a lot of the drama that makes the story exciting.

What didn’t you like about Tom Taylorson’s performance?

When any of the characters had to raise their voice or shout, he just sounded unrealistic. His voice went too high.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I always want to listen to books in one sitting. This one was short, so I did.

What disappointed you about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?

It was only half the story.

What could Marvel Press have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I expect these to be the whole story (movie). I also listened to part 1. It was only half the movie story also. I bought several Marvel movie adaptations. Are they all going to be this way?

Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?

Rocket - overall MacLeod Andrews was a good narrator.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?

None of them - I would have added some, but not cut any.

Any additional comments?

The extra story was a plus - very good.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

It could have been the whole story instead of just half of it.

What was most disappointing about Chris Wyatt and Marvel Press ’s story?

Only half the story.

What does Chris Patton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like audiobooks because I can do other things while listening. He was a good narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It is Marvel. It is Guardians of the Galaxy.

Any additional comments?

I don't feel like I got my moneys worth.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not really sure. Someone who doesn't mind a completely terrible performance by a good actress.

What could Drew Barrymore have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Stop all the stupid screaming and screeching.

Would you be willing to try another one of Drew Barrymore’s performances?

No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I think it could have been a really good book if she had just read the thing and not tried so hard to dramatize it. I liked learning more about this talented actress, but just, well it was really just the screaming.

Where does Whispers in Autumn rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was an interesting story and a well told story. It is book one of four. It seems authors can't tell a whole story in just one book anymore, so eventually I will need to get the others.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator's voice was pleasant and sounded fine, but there was a pause between sentences that was just too long. I had to speed the book up to 1.25 or I would have never been able to stand it.
