'Leaf by Niggle' recounts the strange adventures of the painter Niggle, who sets out to paint the perfect tree. But he senses that he will be snatched away from his work long before it is finished - if indeed it could ever be finished in this world. For it is in another and brighter place that Niggle finds his tree is finished and learns that it is indeed a real tree, a true part of creation.

Where does Leaf by Niggle rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very high indeed. It's short (easy to get through in one session) and it's a very heartwarming little tale with a good lesson.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that while it was clearly a religious parable, it wasn't too heavy handed. I'm not catholic so I disagree with some of the ideas but in general it's a good story

Which character – as performed by Derek Jacobi – was your favorite?

Well, there's only a handful but Niggle is a character I related to very much.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wanted to and did. But it's short so it was easy.

In The Wisdom of the Shire, Noble Smith sheds light on the life-changing ideas tucked away inside the classic works of J. R. R. Tolkien and his most beloved creation—the stouthearted Hobbits. Drawing on The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and other tales of Middle-earth, Smith shows how a snug hobbit-hole is actually just a state of mind and how even the smallest person can have the valor of a Rider of Rohan.

Where does The Wisdom of the Shire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed it a lot and have listened to it more than once. So that's something considering there are still a few things I haven't gotten to yet. It's hard to compare it to other genres though. It doesn't have plot or twists or things of that nature like a novel. But it's very good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wisdom of the Shire?

I particularly like the parts where he gave practical examples of ways he did things to follow the "Wisdom of the Shire"

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

There are no characters per se, so this doesn't really apply

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes very much so. I didn't quite make it but I did get most of the way through.

Any additional comments?

While you can see a bit of politics creeping into the text, it's not heavy and it's only in a couple short spots. Overall it's a very good, inspiring book.

If you could sum up The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV in three words, what would they be?

An engaging, well produced, gift to those who want to listen to scripture when they can't read.

What did you like best about this story?

Being an audio drama rather than just a straight reading makes the book more engaging for those who might be more hesitent to listen to a audio Bible.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think I have so I wouldn't be able to offer much comparison here

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Of the whole thing? I don't know, "You're going to have to sit there for a long time" That's not a critizism of the book of course, just funny because these questions clearly don't apply to every book.

Any additional comments?

My only complaint about the production is the actor playing Jesus is directed in such a way as he almost sounds removed from the scene around him. Not as bad in Revelation, but not great in the gospels.

He's a comedian. He's a YouTube sensation. And now he becomes an author. Best known for his song parodies and riffs on yoga pants and homeschooling, Tim Hawkins now shares his perspective on life in the 21st century in his long-awaited debut book. Tim's topics are as wide-ranging as his stand-up comedy, including marital communications ("Marriage needs a challenge flag, like in pro football"), worship music ("Pick the right key, because I'm not Barry White and I'm not a Bee Gee"), and food ("Eating a Krispy Kreme donut is like eating a baby angel").
