I’ve been listening to this series for over 6 years. This is the first time I thought John Flanagan dropped the ball. One of the things that’s beginning to bother me is the increase of conversations with the horses. I know I know I like some of it too but a 1/4 of the dialogue came from the rangers just talking to the horses!
Anyway I’m just not crazy about the way he wrote this one. Just doesn’t feel right and totally made me raise an eyebrow a few times. Cliffhangers ok when you do it right but this didn’t even land in a spot that makes sense. I’m not saying don’t listen to it! But be prepared for a weird ending!

Look there were times I liked this book but most of the time it made me mad... zoey was raised up in a sheltered facility not knowing much about the outside world. Then all of a sudden she's got mad skills and understands stuff that she didn't have a clue about in the first book. Also this book is filled with the writers political views and beliefs to the point where it's a little overbearing... it really made me upset that this book at first seemed like a clean read but then all of a sudden there's all kinds of horrible cussing and random sexual scenes that are very unnecessary!

Maybe I'm just being picky but I felt like I was re-listening to parts and stuff just got old. Anyway... I'm going to write a book called gag and see how many times I can make my main character gag over all sorts of stuff...

Ok I liked this book more than I thought I would. At first it just seemed like a da Vinci code type book and it is but it's a lot more than that!! I love books with lots of layers and this one certainly has tons! I don't want to give away any spoilers! But I will say this I stayed up till four in the morning listening to this book and finished in less than one day. Although it was kind of predictable who she ended up with at the very end. But anyway I absolutely love Julia Whalen's voice! She narrated another series that I absolutely love the Partials!

I did not like the narrator at all.... She made Jansen sound like an 80-year-old woman and I really hated it when she would yell or get loud. It made me cringe. I didn't mind her professional voice, that was okay... But the rest is why I'm returning this book.

The idea of this story is neat but I'm too literal and have to have legitimate reasons for why certain events happened! I guess I would've liked a little bit more in-depth explanation of how they built their homes down in the ground. The whole process would've taken years and years for them to accomplish. Maybe a second book would clear it all up but I doubt I would listen to it if they used the same narrator.

Abandoned by her family and separated from Bishop Lattimer, Ivy must find a way to survive on her own in a land filled with countless dangers, both human and natural. She has traded a more civilized type of cruelty - forced marriages and murder plots - for the bare-knuckled brutality required to survive outside Westfall's borders.

I definitely do not care for the reader, her voice bores me to death! She makes the grown man sound like little boys... Anyway, as far as the overall story there was no powwow to it there was no heart stoppers. I guess I'm just spoiled from "divergent", "the hunger games" and "the partials" best books ever!!

I love this book, but to me it seemed like the author tried to sum up all the events way too fast! I guess I don't know how else she could have written it. It just didn't seem fulfilling enough... I just listened to "The Partials" so maybe that is clouding my view. I like detailed books but this just seemed all about what Ivy had to do and how she can't do it, like a one track mind??? There didn't seem like a bigger purpose... Idk... I do like this book, amazing ending! Not crazy about the reader, but not the worst I've ever heard.
