Hundreds of hardy people have tried to carve a living in the Alaskan bush, but few have succeeded as consistently as Heimo Korth. Originally from Wisconsin, Heimo traveled to the Arctic wilderness in his feverous 20s. Now, more than four decades later, Heimo lives with his wife approximately 200 miles from civilization - a sustainable, nomadic life bounded by the migrating caribou, the dangers of swollen rivers, and the very exigencies of daily existence.

For a city slicker like me yearning for the great outdoors this is the real unvarnished truth of the hardships, trials & tribulations of living off the land in the Alaska bush. Heimo & his wife Edna are one of a kind! Wow Thoroughly enjoyed the Audible version the narrator had that gravely voice that made all the more real:)

No One Would Listen is the exclusive story of the Harry Markopolos-lead investigation into Bernie Madoff and his $65 billion Ponzi scheme. While a lot has been written about Madoff's scam, few actually know how Markopolos and his team - affectionately called "the Fox Hounds" by Markopolos himself - uncovered what Madoff was doing years before this financial disaster reached its pinnacle. Unfortunately, no one listened, until the damage of the world's largest financial fraud ever was irreversible.

The SEC & FiNRA are still as clueless as they were during the Madoff rape of Investors while Markopolos was ignored!

I left the industry after 22 years as a Financial Advisor cuz during the last 2-3 years prior our firm established a compliance & suitability department by hiring fresh out of college lawyers that were more concerned & trained to look for a paper trail rather than looking for fraud by greedy advisors & complicit management!
Markopolos is dead on on his conclusions but unfortunately it's business as usual !
The next Meltdown will be worse!
It's not a matter of if but when!!
Buyer (investor) Beware!!

As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

When Wyoming highway patrolman Rosey Wayman is transferred to the beautiful and imposing landscape of the Wind River Canyon, an area the troopers refer to as no-man's-land because of the lack of radio communication, she starts receiving "officer needs assistance" calls. The problem? They're coming from Bobby Womack, a legendary Arapaho patrolman who met a fiery death in the canyon almost a half century ago.

Not a situation anyone would want to contemplate but it definitely makes you think twice about things & human behavior during desperate times good & bad. Hope for the best but being prepared very prepared! is what you you get after reading this, story.
The main character ex military was ready to protect himself & family when the authorities were awol when any real disaster strikes!
Keeps you going til the end! & it doesn't lead you to a sequel hanging!
Although there could be one :)
