I got a few chapters into this book and just never got grabbed by anything. All I got was some guy lost in the mountains, and an old guy torturing a confession out of some other guy. At no point did I feel like I give a crap about anything happening. Some books grab you with the first line (try Ender's Game), some take a few pages, or a chapter or two. But this one just never did it for me. I think I'm going to have to get a refund on my credit for this one. Your mileage may vary!

this is a novel idea to get across the core concepts of advanced physics. I know there is a lot more to it, but I can speak intelligently about these topics now.

I had to do a double take when I first started playing the book since it is the same narrator from the fantasy series I was just reading (the cycle of arwan/galand). the voice of a particularly snarky character kept sneaking through, and I really didn't mind after getting used to it.

I just have to say that it feels strange that Dan Wells writes teenage girls so well, so I'll give a lot of credit to the narrator, she did a great job.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this turned out. I've watched Yahtzee's have reviewed for years, and the writing style from that blended well with a good sci-fi naritive. well worth a read.

What did you like best about God Touched? What did you like least?

The author's "voice" is quite good. Line to line and paragraph to paragraph it is a good read. The problem is that the main character *Spoilers* becomes pretty much the most powerful person in the world with a pet giant ghost bear, ultra vampire girlfriend, and a freaking guardian angel.

Any additional comments?

I actually hope Conroe goes on to write another series. I think he has writing chops, but he just got carried away with this one.

I finished the first book but had to stop at the second when I realized it would be the same plot as the first. they all have questionably moral people with screwed up lives, then almost all of humanity dies which just makes things worse. there isn't even any interesting sci-fi angles. the bad guys are kind dumb and after the plague make almost no intelligent decisions. Very 'meh' and I couldn't take reading through the two other books if they are just as depressing.

there were plenty of interesting sci-fi ideas, and a few near character background developments, but it took three quarters of the book before an actual conflict developed. it's like a meandering stream of consciousness with a bit of plot glued onto the end. I don't suppose the could find someone besides Baxter to rewrite it?

What other book might you compare Firefight to and why?

I've read pretty much all of Sanderson's other books, and I would have to say this has been his best to date. I really can't explain why, but I just enjoyed the entire experience.
