Jeff, Evan, and Dan have been living happily together for the past two years. They still have problems, especially between Evan and Dan, but they're mostly able to convert the interpersonal disagreements to sexual tension - and then resolve it - so nobody's complaining. Then Dan's long-lost sister shows up seven months pregnant and on the run from the law, and the situation goes from complicated to overwhelming.

I just finished listening to book 3 and it was truly wonderful! I am sad there is not a book 4 follow up so I can know what the next chapters in their lives bring. I HIGHLY recommend, it was a terrific, captivating story. A great writer.

It hasn't been easy, but horse trainer Dan Wheeler is beginning to build a new life for himself, finding his place in California with his lovers Evan Kaminski and Jeff Stevens. When things are going well, it's spectacular: there's affection, humor, and passion. But things don't seem to go well all that often. Dan continues to struggle with the loss of his previous lover and sometimes doubts that he even deserves to be happy; Evan is jealous of every rival for Dan's attention - including Jeff; and Jeff worries that he's too old for the younger men and wonders if he should bow out completely.

Have to say, I enjoyed book 2 even more than book 1. I took a break after the first one instead of immediately getting book 2 but I found myself thinking of horses and these 3 guys even with while listening to other books. So I gave in and got it and I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The author is so funny so often and I find I am bursting into loud laughter. I like that it is a long story, you have time to absorb the background and it is never dull or boring, although the behavior of Dan and Evan at times is annoying and frustrating. Highly recommend, and I am about to listen to book 3.

Dan thinks about just driving, leaving the whole mess behind. He's got enough money. He could just arrange to get his stuff and his horse shipped to wherever he's going. Taking off is what he used to do when things got to be too much, and it worked pretty well, really.

Unlike some other reviewers, I really really enjoyed that the story was long and included a lot of different characters. I find short stories have little depth. There were a lot of loose ends, like the hostility of Justin’s mother towards Dan, and why Jeff and Evan felt they needed another. Overall I really enjoyed it and look forward to finding out where these boys end up.

Only able to communicate through the use of images, rather than words, getting any information out of the young man is frustrating and slow going. Cold Case Detective Ronan O'Mara has been on a roll solving cases since he and Tennyson last teamed up to solve the Michael Frye case. Unfortunately, the red-hot romance that had blossomed between them during that investigation is now off in a ditch.
