To save his family from his tyrannical mother, Julius had to step on a lot of tails. That doesn't win a nice dragon many friends, but just when he thinks he's starting to make progress, a new threat arrives. Turns out, things can get worse. Heartstriker hasn't begun to pay for its secrets, and the dragons of China are here to collect. When the Golden Emperor demands his surrender, Julius will have to choose between loyalty to the sister who's always watched over him and preserving the clan he gave everything to protect.

I have enjoyed listening to this captivating, and often funny series; the narration, up to this point had been spot on.
So what was different with this book, you may ask..? The production quality. If you're using ear buds or, as in my case the truck radio through Bluetooth, the almost whispered narration, coupled with the sharp, piercing dialogue is enough to make your eyeballs itch!
It's called COMPRESSION; USE IT!!!
Other wise, the story was the usual, wonderfully odd collection of characters & events.
Is it possible for a re-produced version to be updated in our libraries?

This omnibus collection includes Days Gone Bad, Wolves and the River of Stone, and Winter's Demon. That's three complete novels of Damian's dark, gritty, and occasionally hilarious urban-fantasy adventures.

I wasn't aware that what I was buying was an "alternative lifestyle" drama series. Call me out of the loop, and chalk it up to an annoying lesson.

Audie Award, Fantasy, 2016. As the smallest dragon in the Heartstriker clan, Julius survives by a simple code: keep quiet, don't cause trouble, and stay out of the way of bigger dragons. But this meek behavior doesn't fly in a family of ambitious magical predators, and his mother, Bethesda the Heartstriker, has finally reached the end of her patience.

Julius and his draconian dragon family are a feast of humor, drama, machinations, and in-fighting.
The nice guy shows the value of values, and the power of empathy, while saving the day.

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

Rico has a problem. The experimental program that gave him the high intelligence and lightning reflexes he needs as a hit man for a galactic crime syndicate left him incapable of internalizing moral imperatives the rest of us take for granted. It takes real effort for him to pass as a normal human being and he avoids it whenever he can. But he has a job he loves, a fast ship, and plenty of cash. So life is good.
