When Rin aced the Keju - the Empire-wide test to find the most talented youth to learn at the Academies - it was a shock to everyone: to the test officials, who couldn’t believe a war orphan from Rooster Province could pass without cheating; to Rin’s guardians, who believed they’d finally be able to marry her off and further their criminal enterprise; and to Rin herself, who realized she was finally free of the servitude and despair that had made up her daily existence. That she got into Sinegard - the most elite military school in Nikan - was even more surprising.

At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. Beautifully narrated by Alessandro Juliani ( Battlestar Galactica), Lem’s provocative novel comes alive for a new generation.

This might be the best classic sci fi book I have ever read. I found it better written and more thought provoking then anything by Asimov, orwell, Bradbury, ect. Cryptic, smart, and fast moving, this sets the bar, to me, of 1950s-1960s sci fi

It's 1941. In the chaos of wartime Marseille, American engineer - and occult disciple - Jack Parsons stumbles onto a clandestine anti-Nazi group, including surrealist theorist André Breton. So this books hits all the right things for me: surrealism, antifascism, weird fiction, the occult, ect. The writing is the normal amazing China m quality and the story fascinating and fast moving. If you don’t have an interest or background knowledge in dada and surrealism and Marxism this might be a bit less exciting of a book, but I loved it, a lot

This is the way the world ends. For the last time. A season of endings has begun. It starts with the great, red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal and long-dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

What an amazing book. The author flawlessly and skillfully weaves a complex story, social analysis, amazing world building, and character depth into a perfectly paced book. I am not sure I can think of a single thing to improve this book. It has to be one of the best sci fi/ fantasy books of recent time and will become a classic. I am giddy to start the second book!
