A Unique View Of WWII

I must say that I went into this with a bit of a guarded expectation of the material. I expected it to be very slanted towards the current liberal agenda, but refreshingly, it wasn’t! There were some immigration digs at the country, but we are far from perfect in that department.
That view aside, it was a very enjoyable look at the war from a home viewpoint that is very unique. The recordings of the real folks from that time were very poignant. It’s as close as you can get to being there. Makes me appreciate more, the struggles of my grandparents, and the world my parents grew up in.
This is the best Audible Original I have listened to, hands down.

This book is well written, disturbing, and necessary. All of us have known vets who we know have witnessed terrible, unspeakable things in the wars they fought in. I have never heard any of the ones I’ve known actually speak of any of it. This book is the stuff you wish they had shared. It is though, like a bad car accident that you saw and wish you hadn’t. It rides that line of should I know or should I not know, but in the end those who don’t know history are condemned to repeat it.

It’s a rare thing when a book and a movie are equally good. This is one of them. I loved it and couldn’t put it down.

Enjoyed this. I grew up in Warrensburg, MO, which is right next to Sedalia, MO, so was always familiar with Blind Boone and Scott Joplin. It was fun to hear the stories.

This was an enjoyable read. Anish is not only an amazing athlete, but a great writer! I love reading things like this that give me a vision of what the human body can do. I also love the peace I find in the woods. This book encapsulates both.

I have long loved this movie and seen it many times. I jumped at the chance to add it to my Audible collection. The very best thing about this is the reading of it. Rebecca Hall delivered the very best reading of any book I have ever heard. She is absolutely a brilliant and necessary addition to this wonderful story. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed her performance of this classic!

This is an overall good book, but is very dark and graphic. It will not leave you feeling good. I was interested because I’m from Kansas City. The reading of this book is rough. It doesn’t seem like there was any editing done at all. The author corrects himself as he reads wrong words, like an aside to the audience. Very sloppy.

I only got this book because it was recommended by a friend. The title originally turned me off. Don’t get me wrong, there are copious amounts of F bombs, so if you are sensitive to that, this isn’t the book for you. There are so many though, that’s it’s kinda funny and the usage isn’t angry, it’s lighthearted.
The subject matter of the book is amazing! It’s a self help book that is anti self help books. You will learn a lot about yourself and be a better person for reading this book.
