Meeting Beth Harrison in the first-class cabin of my flight from Chicago to London throws me for a loop, and everything I know about myself and women goes out the window. I'm usually good at reading people, situations, the markets. I know instantly if I can trust someone or if they're lying. But Beth is so contradictory and confounding, I don't know which way is up.

I nearly bailed on this book at least 3 times...and was well into it...nearly 3 hours.. before I wanted to find out where it was going. Very interesting concept...and makes you think about our present times, our society and where we as a race are headed. Parts of the story dragged on and on....especially as related to the agency that was on a search and destroy mission and sadly none of this added to the story. All is explained at the end...but nothing earth shattering (no pun intended)....opening for a future story maybe...and if it gets published....would not be moved to purchase.....

Annie Marlow has been through the worst. Rocked by tragedy, she heads to the one place that makes her happy: Oceanside in the Pacific Northwest, the destination of many family vacations when Annie was a teenager. Once there, Annie begins to restore her broken spirit, thanks, in part, to the folks she meets: a local painter, Keaton, whose large frame is equal to his big heart - and who helps Annie fix up her rental cottage by the sea; Mellie, the reclusive, prickly landlord Annie is determined to befriend; and Britt, a teenager with a terrible secret.

This is the kind of story that reminds you why full moons and woods - especially vast, remote and dark woods - are so scary. A different approach which made for a great story. Was surprised to see this is a series! There were days I couldn't wait to get to the car to read and I would find myself lost in the story! The narration was excellent too
Highly recommend!

They say Paris is always a good idea.... You know what I say? Paris would be a much better idea if I spoke the dang language. I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office. Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me.

Also liked Madeline Maby so much better in this book - maybe it was the southern drawl in the first that was hard to take.....

This would make a fantastic movie - Paul Michael's voice is so close to Tom Hanks that there were places I was convinced it was him.....excellent job Paul!
Bravo Dan Brown for an incredibly innovative book so creatively written.
Hope there will be a Part 2!!
