This was a beautifully told, soulful story of Joy Harjo's experiences as a Native American woman. The writing is poetic and lyrical. If you enjoy magic realism and/or poetry you will love and appreciate Harjo's heart searing tale. Over too soon, I wanted more.. I highly recommend this, but I doubt its for everyone.

A little weird. But an engaging bio and up close look at comedy, improve, SNL, and matching it all up with kids and home life. Funny!!

Funny and honest and revealing. Poehler is just exactly as she seems to be on camera; down to earth, hilarious as heck, an energetic firecracker, flawed and struggling like the rest of us. and super talented. Also, she comes from Boston, always a plus for me - wicked pissah! I absoltely recommend this book!

Oh dear. I was expecting maybe a cute, chick-lit, based on real events type story. I was hoping to get some insight about how people so different in background and expectations would navigate their differences and partner in building a succesful life. I waded through thinking something of substance was maybe right around the corner, trying to ignore the millions of times Ree referred to the object of her affections as The Marlborough Man, cementing him into the one dimensional character he was doomed to from the start, the repetitive and most often insignificant details, and poor writing. Substance never rose up from the pile of words, sadly. In addition, it could not be called narration, just a straight through read. I hate to give a poor review, I really do, but I hope this stands as a warning for those other than Ree Drummond fans looking for a sweet substantive story, narrated well. My 2 star rating was generous.

Beautifully written and exquisitely told, rich with impeccable attention to detail and nuance. I recommend this book highlly. I look forward to watching the movie, but I wanted to listen to Walls tell the story first. I'm sure the movie can't compete with Walls' first hand acutely personal rendition, but she herself was pleased with the way the movie came out so it must be worthwhile. I'm so glad to have had the pleasure to hear Walls tell her story!

If you like Chip Gaines a lot and if you like self-help books and motivational speakers, this is the book for you. I wouldn't be surprised if Chip embarks on a motivational speaker circuit. I love Fixer Upper, and find Chip and Joanna's journey compellng. Chip did a good job with narration, but I found the book rambling and repetitive. That doesn't diminish the good job he did putting his feelings and beliefs out there, they are admirable for certain, it was an exemplary effort on his part and he makes many fine points. I'm glad to have listened to what he had to say.

A good autobiography by Chip and Joanna telling about their journey from a struggling couple to mega stardom. The narration is basically a read through, but fans will enjoy Chip and Joanna relating their story. I am a fan of Fixer Upper and recommend this book to others who are as well. .
