In the decades since an innocent human slave was taken to Castle Dragon against her will, for the sole purpose of bearing a son for the monarchy, much has changed in the Realm: Alliances made in secret have flourished; sons born of veiled paternity have grown to adulthood; and dangerous warlocks, seasoned witches, and cunning shades have risen to powerful positions. Yet all is not as it seems. Beneath the shadow of an eerie double moon, a dark, tormented evil is rising....

As a ruthless sentinel sworn to protect the ancient Vampyr king and the house of Jadon, he has "HOJ" literally inscribed on his heart: a heart that was tragically broken centuries earlier, when human hunters slayed his mother and Dark Ones murdered his father. Having survived the unthinkable, he never dreamed he would come this close to another human predator, let alone a female pretending to be his destiny.

The hero is both terrifying and endearing. The heroine is as strong and resilient as she is vulnerable. And the villains, they're just evil personified. The story moves FAST and grips you from the start (so don't forget to breathe). This is by far one of Tessa's best books yet, and Eric brings it to life in full living color. Wow. Just WOW!

Julien Lacusta is a troubled soul, born into tragic circumstances, and raised in a violent time. Despite being a Master Warrior in the house of Jadon, and one of the most elite trackers the Vampyr have ever seen, he is damaged to the core: tormented by endless shadows, haunted by unseen ghosts. And he knows - by all the celestial gods he knows - that if he ever releases those demons, the beasts that lurk within, there will be hell, fire, and brimstone to pay.

It was funny, fast-paced, and suspenseful. All in a short, well written package. I'm beginning to wonder if there is anything this author cannot write.  And the narrator was totally perfect for the story, too. Great job!

Before there was a modern-day town called Dark Moon Vale, there was an ancient kingdom nestled in the Transylvanian Alps. Before there was a primordial species called the Vampyr, there was a celestial race begotten of gods and men. Before light battled shadow, the sacrifice became mandatory, or the first Blood Moon adorned the celestial sky... There was The Curse.

Okay, so there is no doubt that this is a dark and tragic and triumphant story all in one, and it’s amazing how Tessa Dawn wove it together. The thing about her Blood Curse Series that is so unique and compelling is that she managed to completely reinvent the history and mythology of vampires while someone staying true to some of the popular folklore and history at the same time. There is simply nothing out there on the market comparable – these are not just another dime-a-dozen vampire story. For me, Blood Genesis simply underscored the brilliance of Tessa’s world building and imagination. This is where it all begins, and for those who might be worried that it’s a sad, tragic series…don’t! This was the foundation for all the later books, the story behind the Curse. What her vampires do going forward is as amazing and descriptive as her writing. Well done! Fantastic job, as always, by the narrator, Eric Dove. He really brings some extra spice that you just wouldn't get reading it in your head!

Epic is the only word I can use to describe this book. The storyline is epic. The milestone for the Silivasi family is powerful, gripping, and epic. The clash between enemies (lycans and vampires) has been coming for quite some time, and Tessa made it epic. And the main characters' journey of self-discovery and the way they finally come together is just...plain...epic. This book is a keeper. To be read again and again.

Eric's narration was also, as you may have guessed, epic. He brought it all to life in full living color.

Saber Alexiares is no ordinary vampire. He is like a cruel, fire-breathing dragon. Reared in the bowels of the colony by Dark Ones, he has no conscience, no compassion, and no saving grace. Captured by the enemy, he is sentenced to execution by sunlight only to discover that his body will not burn - he isn't who he thought he was. He was stolen at birth. He was reared by the wrong house. And the sunlight isn't going to kill him because he does have a soul.

Of all the Blood Curse Series books I think this one might just be the most heart wrenching and powerful. This is not your typical redemption story where someone goes from bad to good overnight or even from bad to good all the way. This character has to fight and claw his way back to his soul, and Tessa brings every moment of that to vivid life. Absolutely amazing! Best in the series so far.

Eric Dove really brought the characters and the story to life! I can't imagine a better narrator for these stories.
