From the best-selling author of Kafka on the Shore comes this rich and revelatory memoir about writing and running and the integral impact both have made on his life. Equal parts training log, travelogue, and reminiscence, this revealing memoir covers Murakami's four-month preparation for the 2005 New York City Marathon. Settings range from Tokyo, where he once shared the course with an Olympian, to the Charles River in Boston, among young women who outpace him.

Frankly I starred listening to this because
a) it is by Jon Ronson
b) It is Free
c) I was a bit curious

but I could never anticipate the layers of analysis and thought put by Jon and his team.
I really liked the audio book so much that I want to share it with my wife (definitely not a hey honey conversation)

A. J. Jacobs tackles his most challenging experiment yet: a yearlong mission to radically improve every element of his body and mind - from his brain to his fingertips to his abs. First, he had to tackle a complicated web of diet and exercise advice, most which is nonsensical, unproven, and contradictory. Second, he had to consult a team of medical advisers. And finally, he had to subject himself, over the course of two years, to a grueling regimen of exercises and a range of diets and nutritional plans.

Each day as I finished 1 chapter; I look at the takeaways and even start implementing some... resulting in a portrait of my older self hanging outside the bedroom door, talking about taking testosterone tablets, researching on treadmill desks, installing squatty potty, etc.
one final day, my wife had to institute an INTERVENTION for what she labels as a mid life crisis.

I came across this book from tim ferris podcast and really glad that I used my credit on this book.
first, this is fiction -but in deeper retrospect gives you a great perspective on life just by walking you from birth to death in a hyperbolic lifestyle.
second- all reviews commenting on the reader performance is judgemental, it really worked for me; and perhaps it was cause I was used to plain prose reading where the exhiliration comes from the words spinning into sentences and not from the exuberant delivery.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
