It is said that "music tames the savage beast" but can it also heal a closed and broken heart?

Tempest Braden describes herself as ".... careful. Careful in life, careful with her emotions, and careful with herself. Too careful. At closer to thirty than twenty, she was feeling hemmed in by her small hometown and, she had to admit, by her own careful nature." Tempe is ready for a change so she branches out from her music therapy program at the hospital into trying to start children's music groups in Pleasant Hill. She takes an even bigger step by renting a room from Nash, a single father who is raising his son Phillip on a small farm.

Nash is a quiet man with a broken heart from the loss of his brother and the family he once knew. He is an accomplished artist but has set aside his metal and wood sculpting in order to focus on his raising his son. Nash is a man of few words and he feels that he and Phillip get along just fine on their own.

Tempe breezes into their lives and brings with her a breath of fresh air. Her love for children spills out over Phillip and over time, her music begins to soften Nash's hardened heart. I loved watching their relationship grow and seeing Nash give up his guarded and brooding nature. Phillip (or Flip as he calls himself) is adorable and he definitely steals the show at the end of the book.

I have read the print version of this book as well as listened to the audio and I can say I enjoyed both. BJ Harrison does a great job in the narration and his voice is very easy to listen to. This addition to the Braden series by Melissa Foster is a great read and a very touching story of healing and of forgiveness.

Can a mountain man who loves his privacy and a people loving city girl find happiness together? Melissa Foster’s newest book seeks to answer that question. Steve Johnson is a mountain man through and through. He knows the woods forwards and backwards and loves his solitary life. Shannon Braden is a city girl who is spending time in the woods collecting data for a study that she is participating in. They had met at a wedding a few months prior and there was a definite mutual attraction.

Steve is thrown for a loop when Shannon bursts into his quiet little world. She is spunky, sassy and, oh so sexy. His nickname for her is Butterfly as she flits from thing to thing and from place to place. Shannon is drawn to Steve’s burly mountain man exterior and also to his tender heart underneath it all. Can “Grizzly” and “Butterfly” find a way to compromise between their obvious opposite lifestyles? You will have to read the book to find out!

There is a great balance in this book between times of angst and times of sexy fun. The characters are well-developed and you will find yourself laughing at times (watch for Happy Packs and Shmores!) I enjoyed this book and maybe it is true that opposites attract?

B J Harrison is a wonderful narrator with an easy to listen to voice. I have read the print version of this book as well and would highly recommend either version without hesitation

Faith and Sam.... an unlikely combination. Faith has been burned by a former boyfriend and Sam is known as the town "player". His reputation is well earned but underneath all that "alpha-ness" is a tender heart that has also been bruised and battered.

Faith works for Sam's brother, Cole, and Sam has been warned that she is "hands off". Everyone thinks she is too sweet and innocent for a man like Sam. But Sam is determined to win her over in spite of hers and his friend's and family's objections. He has set his sights on Faith and is willing to become everything she needs him to be in order to show his love for her. Faith struggles to believe that Sam can change and she bounces back and forth in her mind as to whether he truly cares for her or is he just leading her on.

I love Melissa's books and I really enjoyed seeing Sam and Faith's relationship grow and blossom. It was not an easy road for either of them but in the end, it was worth the effort.

The narrator, BJ Harrison, does a great job and has a voice that is very easy to listen to. I would recommend either the print or the audio version without hesitation.

Another great story by Melissa Foster….This book continues with the Braden family from Peaceful Harbor but can certainly be read as a stand alone. I have read the book as well as listened to the audio version and enjoyed both equally. BJ Harrison is an accomplished narrator who does a great job and is very easy to listen to.

Annalise (who chooses to use the name Leesa) has lived through a traumatic experience and has moved to Pleasant Hill to regroup and to spend time with a friend. She is a middle school teacher who loves her job and the impact she knows she can make on their lives.

Cole is the oldest of the Braden siblings and he is a handsome, determined and focused orthopedic surgeon. He and Leesa meet in a chance encounter at the local coffee shop and sparks fly! They cannot forget that meeting and when their paths seem to cross on several occasions, they begin to realize that maybe “fate” has brought them together.

I like Melissa’s style of writing. She has chosen a sensitive subject and has done a great job of sharing the emotions and the uncertainty of the situation. The plot was well developed and the characters were believable. I would recommend the book in either version… print or audio.

Nights at Seaside by Addison Cole is the "sweet edition" of New York Times best-selling author Melissa Foster's steamy romance novel Seaside Nights. The stories and characters remain the same, and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language. Sky Lacroux has finally realized her dream and opened her own tattoo shop in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Sawyer Bass, a professional boxer, plays his guitar at a local bar to escape the painful reality of his father’s deteriorating health.

Nights at Seaside is written by Addison Cole and centers on a group of friends whose lives are intertwined in love and friendship. This book focuses on Sky Lacroux who owns a tattoo shop called Inky Skies. Sky is an independent young woman with a deep emotional soul who loves poetry and living her own life.

Her older brothers and her best friend, Blue keep a close watch over her which is often stifling to her. When she meets Sawyer Bass, those protective urges come out in force as Sawyer is a well-known boxer and they are concerned that she cannot handle what he does in the boxing ring. They are attracted to each other on a physical level at first but the more time they spend together, they realize they have a much deeper connection in their souls. As such, Sky struggles to reconcile the man she knows who loves poetry and music with the man who will put on gloves and step into the ring to fight.

Sawyer has his reasons for fighting and despite what he knows he should do to protect his health, he is driven by his love for his father to commit to one last fight. Sky knows she loves him but can she accept him fully?

This story has a bit more somber tone than some of Addison’s previous books but still bears her style of writing. It is a romantic story with just the right amount of heat, of humor and of family and friendship. Melissa Moran is the narrator and I liked her style. She is easy to listen to and does a good job of drawing the reader into the story line. I enjoyed the book and do not hesitate to recommend it and any of the others in her Seaside Summers Series.

Jewel Fisher could never be his… Nate Braden has loved her and wanted her for years but she was younger and also the sister of his best friend, Rick. Those two things alone were enough to keep him from pursuing her but now that Rick is gone, he is even more determined to not move ahead with his feelings.

Nate came home from the war, but Rick did not and survivor’s guilt wracks Nate’s soul. He was the officer who sent Rick on his last mission and he cannot forget that.

Jewel’s life centers on her family… taking care of all the details of her younger siblings lives in order to help out her mother. She does not have time for romance or a boyfriend… but if she did, Nate would be the one for her. A schoolgirl crush has grown into so much more now that she is an adult and Nate is back in town.

But they share the sorrow of losing Rick and that is a barrier between them. Bit by bit their walls begin to crumble and their souls are healed. Can they find love at last? “Healed by Love” is just what is says… their souls were made whole again by love.

BJ Harrison is a talented narrator... his voice is easy to listen to and he does a great job of drawing the listener into the story.

Secrets at Seaside is the final book in this series...”which features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to and you'll be begging to enter their circle of friends”. And I am a bit sad to have to say goodbye to them.

Amy Maples has been in love with Tony Black since she first met him, and they share a secret which has hovered in the background since a summer long past. They have spent every summer together since at the Cape, but have resisted acting on their feelings because of that secret. Amy has a big decision to make that could potentially take her away from this group of friends who have become a “family” of sorts and she is hoping her friends can help her make the right choice.

Tony does not want to stand in her way but does not want to let her go either. He feels he is not good enough for her. In his mind, she needs a stable, grounded man… not a surfer who spends his time traveling in search of the perfect wave. But he is struggling to set his feelings towards her aside and not influence her decision.

As she works through her decision-making process, she and Tony face their past and their feelings towards each other. Secrets are revealed and relationships are tested. Will love win out?

I enjoyed the narration... the reading was well paced and her voice was easy to listen to. The book (and the series) end in such a perfect way…with all the quirkiness and fun we have come to expect from this group! This is just the right story to tie up the series and I loved every minute of it.

This book is a great addition to the Love in Bloom series by Melissa Foster. I love animals so a book about a veterinarian was sure to catch my attention and once it did, I could not stop listening.

Elisabeth is a free spirit who has returned to Trusty to try her hand at running the farm she inherited. She wants to fit into the close knit community but finds it hard to break the stigma of being a "California Girl."

A tiny pig brings Elisabeth to Ross's doorstep and into his well ordered life. Ross is serious about his veterinarian practice and about life in general so when he is seen about town with "Lissa" tongues start wagging!
