As a preface, I'm both a Molly Harper fan and a young adult fiction fan, so I was very excited to listen to her foray into the genre. I wasn't as big a fan of Amanda Ronconi as narrator for British accents, but it wasn't so off putting to be a huge problem. I've listened to this book now twice. Both times I was entertained well enough, but the world building in this story is severely lacking. Just because it's a young adult oriented novel doesn't mean you can skip on details. The whole world is this magical based society, but it's not until the last two chapters that you really see the different kinds of "magics" that are around. They come out of nowhere and make the novel feel amateur. Not what I expect from Molly Harper.

I might listen to the next book in this series, if I get bored.

While I wouldn't say this is one of Mariana Zapata's best novels, it's a solid and entertaining story. Gabby is a bit immature but it suits her backstory. The only issue I had was the narration - Carly Robin's voice came off as so aggressive at times, it was off putting.

Fantasy cliche + overactive libido = this story. Entertaining enough to listen to, but zero personality or depth from any of the characters, rushed plot being pushed along awkwardly. Made me think that this is a story a horny high school aged person might write if they liked dragons and princes

I can see why the audiobook summary said the main character girl is a struggling comedian .. she was not funny. And also didn't act very believably in the situation. Granted, I got fed up within the first hour so maybe the book could have redeemed itself, but not worth the wait.

Amazing dual narration, fantastic characters, great story. Based on the books summary I really didn't anticipate enjoying the story as much as I did. I thought it would be cocky rich kid meets alpha male bodyguard but noooo. Moffy is such an amazing character I absolutely loved him. He's just a genuinely good person and it made me root for his happy ending the whole time.

The ONLY complaint I have about this book is the authors' overuse of the word "strongly" - which I hesitate to even point out because it gets so much worse after you start noticing it in the series. Forty different variations of "he looked at him strongly", no joke. But I love this book enough to send the authors a thesaurus to fix this!

A little slow-paced, and characters don't have all that much personality (except for secondary characters who are more like caricatures), but the storyline was interesting enough to get me to keep listening and I'll likely try the second book in the series.

As a huge fan I was excited to read this installment in the Brooklyn Bruisers universe, but while entertaining, it fell short of my expectations for Sarina Bowen's work. The characters had almost no chemistry together. Mike was borderline unlikeable. Not a bad person per se, but just kind of pushy and blah. The major thing that kept me going was seeing the Rebecca/Nate romance play out in the background, from Lauren's perspective.

It's like the author was trying really hard to be edgy and hardcore.... starting in the last 2 hours of the book.

It's fine to be dark and edgy, but this transition gave me whiplash. Rage had the potential to be a super cool character, but she ended up being submissive and lame, and every other character basically has a personality 180 too in completely illogical ways in the last hour. I'm sad I wasted my time listening to this book.

So, even recognizing that some of the FBI people I've met would be just as pathetic in the Alaskan wilderness as the heroine of this story, I still can't find it in me to forgive her for being so.... pathetic. Plus, she's kinda dumb to boot. I'd have chalked her terror of beetles, falling off cliffs, and inability to kill a rabbit even when she was STARVING in the wilderness to being a desk job/ intellectual type, but she didn't even display all that much intelligence. I really don't know what Boone saw in her except that he'd been isolated from humans for too long. I kept listening waiting for her to show badassery, but I am not sure the wait was worth it. I'm not even really sure what she saw in Boone, except for the hero complex she obviously developed.

Listen to this if you're in the mood to hear about a woman being saved over and over again. Solid narrators were the primary redeeming factor of this story
