Leaving behind her private forensic pathology practice in Charleston, South Carolina, Kay Scarpetta accepts an assignment in New York City, where the NYPD has asked her to examine an injured man on Bellevue Hospital's psychiatric prison ward. The handcuffed and chained patient, Oscar Bane, has specifically asked for her, and when she literally has her gloved hands on him, he begins to talk - and the story he has to tell turns out to be one of the most bizarre she has ever heard.

I enjoyed the first books in this series. The trend the overall storyline has taken is somewhat chaotic. I must have missed a book somewhere. I really expected a bigger deal to be made of Benton and Scarpetta's marriage.
I am not a fan of the recording quality. The background sounds were a distraction to the book. The narrative is already distractive with inconsistent voices of the characters from previous books. Perhaps Kate and Patricia needs to revisit previous books in the series.

The original narrator for the first two books created wonderful voices and built the characters out so superbly. I cannot comprehend the reasoning for changing mid-series. I am really disappointed. The author is wonderful and I will purchase more written, but definitely stick with the same narrator through an entire series.

Blood is thicker than water. But love of a child from a step parent can be just as strong. I have been pulled into this story from book one. The writer did an excellent job of character building. Feathering the back stories in enough to let you feel you know these people. And care to find out where the story takes them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series by a fellow Baldwin County Alabama native. The books got better and better as the characters were fleshed out. Deep relationships were built upon. Plenty of action and many adventures along the way. It is difficult to select a favorite character as they all have a great deal of interesting journeys along the way.

Great writing! I look forward to the next series from Brian D Anderson!

This Omnibus left me wishing the entire series was offered in the 3-for-1 pricing. A great value for your money. Smart marketing techniques Audible! I must read the rest in this series! As a matter of fact I have already purchased them so I can binge listen. So much easier to listen on the go!
