Sinful, Louisiana, really knows how to throw a party, and it goes all out for Halloween. The weeklong celebration kicks off with a maze of horror in the park built of hay bales. And Fortune has the perfect assignment - the executioner. Her scene comes complete with a head block, a hatchet, and a fake body with removable head. It’s the perfect setup...for a crime. When Fortune returns from break and realizes the body in her scene is a real one and not the prop, she knows trouble is coming.

Another hilariously exciting murder mystery for Swamp Team 3! Halloween festivities are interrupted by a murder victim found in a maze created for the spooky event. Of course Fortune & her “investigative consultants”, Ida Belle & Gertie, find themselves as the focus of suspected foul play. Lots of twists & turns per usual which makes for an enjoyable read/listen. Can hardly wait for the next in this series!!!

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are finally off to Florida on the vacation they’ve always talked about. Days filled with white sand, turquoise water, and fruity drinks are the only thing on the agenda. But when Gertie’s “hot date” turns up dead and she’s the number one suspect, they’re forced to hang up their bathing suits and shift to investigating mode.

I personally found this book to be quite entertaining as I have all of the other Miss Fortune books. It was just what I needed to add some levity while recuperating from surgery. I love all of the books in this series & will continue buying them as long as Ms. DeLeon keeps churning them out! Gertie & her antics continue to make me LOL & I feel this is the reason she bears the brunt of the jokes. But she always does her part to help when needed while adding to the existing chaos. Fortune takes the lead & Ida Belle provides the more serious role. So it’s a perfectly matched threesome.

It’s official. Fortune Redding is out of the CIA and a newly minted resident of Sinful, Louisiana. She never expected her homecoming to be all apple pie and hugs, but a murder wasn’t on her list of things to deal with before she’d even gotten her name stenciled on her mailbox. Boone Carre-Hooch, to the locals - was a drunk and a louse and had shafted pretty much everyone he’d ever done business with. So when someone kills him, there is no shortage of suspects. Unfortunately, Ally is at the top of the list.

Sharon Washington’s autobiographical one-woman play, Feeding the Dragon, delighted audiences off-Broadway and is now available exclusively on Audible. The one-act play invites listeners into Sharon’s unorthodox childhood, growing up in an apartment on the top floor of the St. Agnes Branch of the New York Public Library, where her father served as the building’s custodian. A love of literature and boundless imagination helped the playwright as a young woman persevere over dragons of all forms.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story narrated by someone who lived it. Her descriptive narration was so vivid in my mind, it was like being there. I know there are too many untold stories that I won’t be reading about because as she most eloquently stated, “you won’t find it in a book”. How sad that so much of our written history has been so one sided that the truth has to be orally passed from one generation to another to be remembered.

Sinful, Louisiana, is always a hotbed of activity, and despite the steamy heat, August is no exception. Godzilla is terrorizing the town, looking for a home-cooked meal, and Gertie is worried someone will take the gator out before she can get him under control. Francine has a situation of her own at the café, where food is missing from inventory. And Celia is always up to no good. But summer is almost over, which could mean huge changes for Fortune Redding.

I have enjoyed this series more than any I’ve read or listened to over the years & that’s saying a lot! The characters are great & I would love to have Fortune, Ida Belle, Gertie & their friends as my friends too! All I can add is we need more, more, more Sinful Ladies stories in our future!!!

I’m really hoping that Fortune Redding & Swamp Team 3 continues taking care of Sinful situations for a long time to come. Every time I finish one book, I can hardly wait to start another b/c this Mystery Series is one of the best I’ve come across in quite a while. Keeps me laughing out loud & trying to figure out the bad guy/s @ the same time. I’m hoping to see a book #12 before too long as I’ve become addicted to the antics of Fortune & company!
