For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

Susie did something that she knows she will always regret: giving her baby son up for adoption, to keep her infidelity secret from her family. Louise, Susie's daughter, feels the effects of that decision echoing down through the years - her mother has always been difficult, too strict with her but not strict enough with her sister, Grace, who is wild and out of control. And Danny, Susie's husband, adores her but has always sensed something wrong at the heart of their marriage.

I really enjoyed this book! While the topics were heavy at times, I so enjoyed the pace, the characters, and the funny quips throughout. My own sister, and husband are adopted, and I often hear "she didn't want me". Listening to this book made me realize how they must feel, although I believe it was circumstances and the time they were born, 1967,1968, like this book that prevented their Moms from keeping them. Looking for my next book by this author! Narrator was too notch!

Such a great amount of information, really helps thinking like a Momma dog, vs the emotions ee have and impart on our animals, that they don't really feel. Our 4.5 month old Daisy, golden retriever is responding so well to the techniques I've used that I've learned in this book. She c is, so much smarter than I ever gave her credit for as a puppy.
