Even though I have either read, or listened to, this book five times, it is always new and exciting! I still weep in the sad parts and celebrate or laugh in the happier times. It is the epic love story that all romance writers desire to write and all romance readers hope they are getting when they buy a new book or audiobook.

A widow Grey Montfort, and her daughter Brook, in a very treacherous situation, are rescued by a mercenary knight named Braxton De Nerra and his men. After her rescue, Brook asks Braxton and his knights to dinner, not knowing there were almost 200 men in his party. When they get to her falling down castle, Braxton realizes how few groceries the women have and shares their supplies and a buck they had killed that day. Braxton and his men work until late repairing what they could of the most dangerous situations in the short time they have before going on to a previous business appointment. Thus a friendship of sorts is formed.

When his business is concluded, Braxton returns to Grey's Erith Castle with even more supplies and begin work in earnest on the castle, amid Grey's protestations that she could not pay them. They stayed for some time repairing and rebuilding. The first romance begins with Grey's mother, Constance Grey, doing everything in her power to throw a wrench iin the budding romance, lying, telling fifteen year old Brook to throw herself at Braxton and manipulation of everyone to get her way.

It is a very tense drama on every page because someting new and traumatic is happening on almost every page.
This is one of Kathryn Le Veque's earlier novels, but it is a very good read or listen, as Brian J. Gill narrates it very well. However the star of it al is the writing. It is a classic.

Big and burly, with a crown of vibrant red hair, as the son of the chief of Clan Munro, Jamison's path in life was more unconventional than those of his clansmen. Fostered in England and France, Jamison learned the ways of his adversaries before returning home to take his place at his father's side. But his father is a progressive thinker, knowing that in order to survive, his clan must become allies with the English. He knows that isolation will only bring destruction to his clan.

It is no secret that I am a great fan of Kathryn Le Veque's books, However, if you are looking for a read that is funny, tear jerkingly sad, exciting with very real war scenes, bold ,strong good looking men and the stongest of women, then look no further The Red Lion has it all. It. is the love story of Haviland and Jamison. They meet when she attacks him with her sword when he has been sent to protect her home, the English held Four Crosses on the Welsh Marches, from a Welsh invasion. She had not met him because she had been locked up in the castle, protecting it and he had been in the outer bailey. doing the same. As the story progresses, they have to determine the source of leaks in vital information about their plans and the condition of both their manpower as well as their defenses. It seems there is always a new twist to the story and a surprise no one expects in every chapter (and somtimes the surprises seem to be on every page)!

It is a sleep prevention of the very best kind, so don't start reading it at night if you have to be at work early the next day. It is a very exciting drama. I heartily recommend it, and Brad Wills brings the audiobook to life as no other could. With his deep voice and ability to give each character their own voice, traits and accents just brings it to life.

He is now obviously courting his deceased Brother's betrothed, Daphne Trudow. Every where Blair goes, she sees them. At every opportunity, Daphne doesn't hesitate to let her know that she is now Julian's betrothed and will tolerate no encroachment on her territory-Julian.

Blair decides to leave London for her family's estate. On her trip, things go horribly wrong during a bad rainstorm on a treacherous road. Her carriage comes across a badly wrecked carriage that is blocking the road. It is Julian's carriage and it is from this incident that the tangled web emerges.

In my opinion, this is Collette Cameron's best book so far. it has everything romance readers are looking for!

Plowing headlong into the Marquis of Sterling and dropping eggs on his boots wasn’t the most foolish thing Eden Haverden had ever done. But reluctantly accepting Chester’s invitation to stay the night at his familial estate after she nearly drowned? Yes, that assuredly was a rash decision and invited utter ruin.

The bastard daughter of a bitter enemy meets the Marquise (heir of a Duke) by running smack dab into him when rushing into the local bar to deliver herbs and eggs. While the novel is short, it has everything I want in a romance. Unexpected meeting, immediate interest in one another, constant aversion by noble peers and relatives, and unexpected roadblocks against their match. Of course there is a female noble ready in the wings to snatch the heir to the dukedom, with his father's blessing and determination that it is the correct match for his heir. Collette hasgiven us another one of her sweet, intriguing romances, with a bit of suspense to pique our interest.

If it were possible I would give this novel TEN STARS! It is now ten minutes after five a.m. Even though I have a very busy day ahead, I have spent the night listening to ONLY A DUKE WOULD DARE! It is such a beguiling tale that I simply could not turn it off. Collette Cameron really nailed it this time. The story begins in a church graveyard when the heroine!, Theadosia hears groaning and heart rending groaning comments, but looking around can see no one. Being the kind hearted, sympathetic person she is, she goes looking for the person in such throws of grief or pain. She finally finds him and recognizes her old crush, Victor the Duke of Suffolk. He is drunk and sitting on the ground, leaning against his fathers grave stone. Since her very strict father is the Vicar of the adjoining church, she knows she is not for him. Her father came into the graveyard showing his new Curate around. Then the fun begins. She is in a very compromising situation, being alone without an escort, with a man. She is seen being kissed by Victor, the Duke, but she doesn't think her father saw the kiss.

After a short time of meeting Victor clandestinely, she realizes that she is in love with him. She also knows that he is planning to get married in August, but to whom he doesn't know. Then the intrigue begins!!! But you will have to read the book or the audiobook to get the rest of the story. It will be worth it. Stevie Zimmerman does a very good narration, she makes the book come alive. Collette Cameron, has another winner here.

Lillianna de Burgh knows all about the legend surrounding the women in her family - that true love awakens the gift of sight within them. But given the horrific betrayals the power has brought her ancestors, she wants no part in true love or the supposed gift. Avoiding her fate seems simple enough since men have proven time and again that they wish to use her, not cherish her, even her own kin. Thankfully, when she flees England to escape her evil uncle, she finds herself in the company of a seemingly hard-hearted Highlander who thinks the legend is nothing more than a myth.

This book has everything I look for in a book! Every chapter has intrigue, suspense, attraction, growing affection and trust, misunderstandings, interference by others and hurt feelings. Then there are the captures of both Angus and lillieanna and others by enemies wars breaking out. While I am familiar with the history of Robert The Bruce, I never knew the details of how the major wars and skirmishes came about. Julie has woven a story that makes each one seeable in the mind's eye and it is sooo very believable and tory interesting. (I boughtt another history book focusing on this bitter time in the war between England and Scotland). With England's cruel King Edward I (also/ known as Longshanks) ruling England and trying his best to destroy the Scots and take away all memory of their heritage, and Scotland without a strong leader in line to inherit the throne of Scotland, war was almost inevitable.

I believe you will enjoy this book as much as i have. It is one I will return to often.Tim Campbell is a wonderful narrator and really shines in this narration. Julie Johnstone has really done a wonderful job of relating history in a romance novel. I hearttily recommend this one!

All of Kathryn Le Veque's novels are intense, but A WOLFE AMONG DRAGONS is super emotional. From the very beginning, it grabs your attention and holds it. With the death scene on the field of defeat in a battle, being so full of heartbreak and sorrow, to the very end, it is full of great emotion. The story of James De Wolfe, William and Jordan's youngest son, gives us an outline of a young knight's training and growth. Then the real story begins. This is a book that deserves a permanent home on your bookshelf. It will be one you will want to read over and over. it is truly a masterpiece!
