Steven D. Levitt is not a typical economist. He is a much-heralded scholar who studies the riddles of everyday life, from cheating and crime to sports and child-rearing, and whose conclusions turn the conventional wisdom on its head. Thus the new field of study contained in this audiobook: Freakonomics. Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing.

Good daily deal of this 2006 bestseller. If you missed this bestseller way back when, then this audiobook has some insights to behavioral outcomes related by these 2 authors. So many unintended consequence occurred and it is fascinating to hear the correlations from actions people did. It had some good information and it was entertaining as well.

This clearly states it’s a personal memoirs.
As all the other reviewer’s love this book, I thought that I would be getting more insight what author learned from animals. See other negative reviews as those relate my same sentiments.
I stopped at ch 4.
This was just to maudlin for me.

Great $3.95 daily deal to introduce this wonderful writer to a new mystery fan base. I have been a fan of Ms Deveraux since the 80’s with her historical romances. All time best A Knight in Shining Armor, the closing paragraph will stay with you for years to come! Not to be missed the Velvet Montgomery Annuals which also shows off Ms Deveraux great writing skills.
The Publishers summery is spot on so no need to add to it.
This is a series so if you do not like cliff hangers, then beware. Author leads you to the next book which may leave certain explanations to your imagination. The characters are wonderful as author knows how to develop personality as the tale evolves.
Since Ms Deveraux had at one time, and may still live in an English castle, her eye for detail and furnishings is great if you are a fan of that type of narrative.
I do use the 1.25x speed for all mysteries to match an authors intentions. See Marcia Clark mystery series, both Rachel Knight and Samantha Brinkman if you enjoyed this mystery.

Good daily deal. Publishers summery spot on and the narrator did a good job with this tale. I do use the 1.25x speed to match the authors intent.
Lots of life lessons explored. Author had great command over the descriptive nature of her prose, eg Friends share bits of their past until others have something to hold on to.
I purchased this book feeling this author could shed some brightness in anyone’s world who is experiencing any sort of grief of a special love one or even a pet. Well done as I came away with a breath of fresh air take on the aftermath when tragedy strikes. This story is about a group of people in a small community so you can relate and you do not feel anonymous.

Good daily deal. Publisher summery spot on, no need to add to it. I purchased due to talented narrator Ms Rosenblat who saved this vintage tale of murder. I do use the 1.25x speed to match the adventure, but this author is just not for me. If you watch any of the Brit Box or PBS subscriptions eg Vera, which I love, then this story may seem a bit dated.
Well written to be sure, and if you like the Agatha Christie, then this story is right up there as a good period piece of mystery.

Great buy on the First in Series Sale. I love narrator Joe Barrett from Brian Haig, Sean Drummond series!! See the best, Private Sector to laugh your head off. I do use the 1.25x speed to match authors action. Joe does a fab job on this book, a fave film of mine.
If you saw Clint Eastwood in this title film, then this book is even better than the film. Narrator, Joe captures the essence of the authors wit, and the dialogue of the times. I can tell you, you are right there on the face of the Eiger!!
I can see why Clint wanted to do the film, and why George Kennedy stole the Ben, 6 pack beer scenes! Gads, as you listen to the book, you can just picture Jack Cassidy as Miles Mellow and visualize George as she runs Clint up steep hills. Not to be missed are the climbing scenes, they either make you want to take lessons or never go near a mountain again.
Book 2 in the wish list.

I purchased this book due to Joe Barrett narrating books 1 to 4, If you try only 1 book choose Private Sector as author wit comes shining through due to Joe Barretts delivery.
All the negative reviews concerning LJ Ganser is on spot on, but if you love author B.Haig, and can not wait until some producer or author realizes they must have this book re recorded by Joe Barrett, by all means use a Gold credit for this outstanding read. Publishers summery is spot on so need to add to it. It is a mystery that is fun, entertaining and stimulating.
I generally use 1.25x speed to match the action, but in this book you must stay with regular speed so you can hear the wit and humor author had intended. You have to tune out LJ deep breaths and as the story progresses he does gain his momentum and does not take as deep a breath! However, you must concentrate on catching the wit and humor of L.J. timing. It takes a few chapters to get into narrators rhythm, but you can finally appreciate the strong writing from the author. Author has out done himself on this book so as not to miss out on the few B. Haig books available, I purchased it.
