If you want to try a different sci-fi or you're tired of the same superheroes with the amazing weapons, then try a story about real aliens. How they live, love, and survive. They start as a naïve society that has everything, and when they ask a simple question, they are attacked and learn to defend themselves.

I like getting the audible book sometimes and I did on this one . I did enjoy the book but could not stand listening to the narrator . He is the worst one I have ever listened to. About as boring as watching paint dry. I switched to my Echo and let her read it.

My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiancé left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables to earn some extra cash. The truth is that I'm pretty much used to disasters following me around on a daily basis.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes it is a very good series of books.

What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He doesn't just read the books he puts character into it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yeah I could have listened to it all day if my wife let me. But I enjoyed listening to them just before bed time.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed listening to all 3 audio books and readying the last 2 books in the series. They keep you wanting to listen or keep on reading. There is not a lot of killing or violence but I don't like a lot of that. Fast paced and keep the book moving.

Personal opinion but for a first book I thought it was very good. I listened to the Audible edition. Without knowing the author you could tell he must have been a lawyer. Glad he used editors because too many authors just wing it. There were good lawyers and bad lawyers and doctors. Moved fast enough to keep wanting to listen.

From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Was it justice... or revenge? What drove a simple farmer to set out on an impossible quest after a gang of bloodthirsty killers that raped and murdered his wife and slit his small son's throat? Their trail led him halfway across the country and deep into Mexico. One by one he tracked them down and brought them to justice, sometimes at the end of a short rope, more often in front of his fast guns, and he didn't care which.
