Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar. Mistaken for the boy’s long-missing mother, Anne adopts her identity.

This was a great book although I found the narrators constant... Jo said... Gave said... Jo said... Gabe said... Jo said... Gabe said to be done in a disruptive way. Maybe it will feel the same when reading and it’s an author problem but either way it distracted from an interesting book about an amazing little girl finding her safe and happy place on earth.

I have no idea how this book had such high ratings. If I had to hear the word “erotic” said by the Ash one more time I thought I’d scream! Seriously break out a thesaurus! My erotic thoughts, it was so erotic, I’d never done something so erotic etc etc etc... 🙄

And the “strong heroine of the book” Ash was all over the place. She’s a tough prison guard persona wanting to fight motorcycle club member and prez one minute and the next she is this weak woman needing to be f***ed after feeling insecure to a club “whore”. Beau, the male lead, was just ok. Every sexy scene was ruined by him calling here Babe or chick. So cheesy.

I just didn’t buy any of it. No thanks on the rest of the series.

I think in triangles. You think in straight lines. I show you a table and make you believe it's a chair. Smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand, misdirection. I trick and deceive. But most of all, I put on a good show. The world thinks I killed a man, but I didn't. Bear with me. It's all a part of the plan. Revenge is what I want. I want it for me, and I want it for her. I want it for all six of us.

I thought the plot was actually pretty good and original. It isn’t often you listen/read books with illusionist, so that was really fun. The narrator did a good job on the female Irish voice but... I really didn’t like her male voice. The male narration was obviously a woman and sounded like a bratty teenager. Sorry:( it ruined the “steamy” intimate scenes for me.

A devastating disaster has left the Forbidden Court in ashes, its fountains destroyed, and its magic at risk. It was destined as the site of Trynne Kiskaddon's coronation as empress. Now, all Trynne can imagine is the roar of flames, the cries of Gahalatine's people, and the smell of cinders in a city gone dark. Tragic as the threat to Kingfountain is, it's nowhere near as foul as the treachery posed by Morwenna.

I could have impressed him, if not for last month's unforgettable one-night stand. I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory - namely, his wallet. Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it. But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose. Brooklyn girl. Infamously quirky.
