It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But one person wasn't satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait - and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

I don’t write a lot of reviews (and I listen to A LOT of audible books) but when something grabs me and hangs on I just can’t help but spread the word.
I’ve listened to many many of Ms. Roberts books- some I’ve liked more than others but this one- HOLY COW. DO yourself a favor and spend the credit. I was so sad to see it end. More please Ms Roberts!!

Meg was very good. I'm not knocking that book. But the trench was even better. I plan on moving on in the series but I think I need a break from the deep water gore. Lol. But this book was So entertaining. Seamlessly interwoven plots. Excellent narration. Def worth a credit!

So- I can't say that I was ever really scared. This is a great book and kept me interested,on the edge of my seat and never wanting to press pause. Based on that- I can give this a five star rating. The narration was very very good and I felt like I was right there in the book instead of having it read to me. Not easy to do.
But like I said I was never really scared. But then again I was safe on dry land. Might have been a much different review if I had listened to this book aboard a sea vessel. Or even at the beach. Def worth a credit. Entertaining and I already downloaded the next book. I can't ask for more when starting a new author and /or series. I don't need for everything to be believable. I listen for entertainment. This one definitely fit the bill!

The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it's kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine's aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born. She never returned, and the Longbows don't talk about her much. The younger ones, who never met her, quietly presume she's dead.

Absolutely one of NR's best! Sometimes I feel like her stuff is hit n miss but this was exceptional. I didn't want to stop listening and finished the book over a two day period. This will definitely be a relisten for me. Please listen. And enjoy! However, I feel the need to warn ppl that may have trigger points. There is kid napping, the worst kind of nightmare anyone can imagine. Rape, abuse, and at the end victory for all. But please go into this listen cautiously if you have triggers to any kind of male dominated abuse. I loved this story! It was an amazing journey of redemption and vengeance Family and friends and loving relationships as well.

I'm a fan of romance but I HATE a story with no STORY. This book has it all!! In fact the romance part of the book is very secondary to the plot and I really really enjoyed that. I had flashbacks to King's 'The Stand' and I enjoyed this book almost as much. That's really really hard to say and expect ppl to believe. But wow!! Read this book. Even if ur not a huge fan of romance. This isn't a love story. And it makes you think.... what if the world ended.... tomorrow.

Here's the thing... if I hadn't already read some other titles by this author I would not have finished this book. I did trudge through. The problem isn't the story line, although I did find myself wondering how close to being finished I was several times, the problem is Janie. I had a really really really hard time liking her. She was super judgmental. Like unbelievably close minded super judge!!! And I HATE THAT. And she never really turned a corner with that. I liked her quirks and silly tidbits of info. I like when authors make a series and the protagonist in each book is totally different from another. Not just the same character different name. However, even after the hea, I think I still hate Janie. And, I hate that. I will read more from Penny Reid bc I've really enjoyed some of her other series. In fact, I started with this one bc I love love love the Winston Brothers books so far and I am looking forward to reading the next installment. This one was just not for me!!
That said. Narration was really good. Each character was easily recognizable even if the book didn't explain who was talking. Excellent job with narration. Enough inflection and the reading never ripped me out of the story with weirdly said words or mispronunciation like sometimes happens. So I gotta give it up to the narrator.

Glad I listened to this one. Needing a break from some of the darker and deeper crime thrillers I'd been listening too, I gave this a shot based on a 2 for one credit sale.
This book was just right! Kept my interest from the beginning, love the town and townspeople. Love the characters. Like the story line. Good narrator and in a cpl of places this book actually made me laugh out loud. It felt good. Really good. I recommend! But keep in mind. It's a light and fun read. Suspend your need for perfect police work and crime scene investigation And just enjoy. It's worth it.

I wasn't supposed to end up in an outlaw biker's bed. I wasn't supposed to love it. I definitely wasn't supposed to crave his fiery kisses, beg for his touch, or ache to know the man behind the evil-looking ink and scarred smirk. I was the good girl. He was the monster. Then everything changed. I became a prisoner. I prayed for Skin to save me. He did - and he kept me for himself.

I'm only giving two stars for the narration bc the male narrator was fine. The female was overly dramatic. It was unbelievably annoying. Even when just describing a room or the atmosphere she was in, the narrator used this breathy, whiny cadence to her voice that was truly teeth grinding jaw clenching annoying!
The story itself was so bad. I'm sorry to say that too, Bc I respect the amount of work and imagination it takes to write a novel. The word "little" was so overused I started laughing every time it was spoken. I even thought "this would make a great drinking game!!" One shot for every "little". Her little jaw. Her little lips. Her little hands. Her little ass. Her little eyes. Her little everything!! Aaarrgghh! And I'm sorry again. But even setting those things aside, the story was bad bad eye rolling bad. And I really really don't mind setting aside believability for a good story. Things don't really have to be "real" for me to enjoy a story but this was just crazy! A pimp to a motorcycle club keeps her virginity in tact!!?? Really? And even if by some great leap you could overlook that, the rest of the story is just.... Bad. Absolutely no more Nicole Snow books for me. One and done. And returned for my credit back. Where did these good reviews come from?? Sorry. No.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I don't know.

Has Heart of Evil turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes. Narration was pretty good. Not great but ok.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Incredulity.

Any additional comments?

SPOILER ALERT!!

I usually do not give bad reviews and the story really did keep my attention for the most part. But!!! Wth? The ending of the book is ridiculous! The main character blames herself for the death of a father figure. That she considers a "good guy" even after he tells her he's going to kill her and leave her daughter, motherless. He has cheated on his wife. Killed his mistress. Killed the man that helped him cover it up. And is now going to kill his surrogate daughter and at the last minute turns the gun on himself and he's a "good man" !!?? What!!?? Also, we never tell the world the truth about what he's done. Instead we say he killed himself bc he "found out he was dying of cancer" and couldn't handle the dire news. What??!! Then!! Then!! The cop boyfriend doesn't talk to or see his girlfriend for over a week. In a time in her life where she is dealing with a lot of horror and never tells her he loves her. But then shows up on her doorstep and tells her that they're getting married. Ok. Sure. Not to mention that the way the main character allowed herself to continue to be treated by her ex husband and have her reputation destroyed and her name dragged thru the mud was impossible to ignore. And in the end the ex gets everything he's ever wanted while allowed to be the worst kind of dad. That's a crap ending. I'm returning this book on principle. The narration was ok. Pretty good. The story up until the end was ok. Then it all went to h*** in a hand basket. No more for me thanks. Skip it. Not worth a credit imo.
