If God Were Your Therapist audiobook cover art

Basic rules that make sense and need to be heard

4 out of 5 stars

This audiobook was great. I found myself writing down key points throughout the book while I listened. The author talks about the soul, ego, and body driving us to make decisions and how these decisions affect our self esteem and quality of life. This is not mystical or the usual self-help junk that you get from other books. The advice/info seems like no-nonsense common sense to me, getting to the root of the issues. I will note that I am not very religious and still enjoyed the book. There are some places that get heavy into God and Adam and Eve and forgiveness and I just took it for what it was. I may not agree with the author’s beliefs about religion, but it didn’t distract from what I got out of the book. Definitely worth a listen.

Twisted Triangle audiobook cover art

Who are these people?

If you are looking for a thrilling story of cunning and intelligent FBI agents caught up in a twisted love triangle that turns bad, then look again. Maybe because this story takes place in the 1980s and socially things are different now, but instead of keeping me on the edge of my seat, it keeps me sitting back thinking "How dumb can they be?" and "What is wrong with these people?" I do sympathize with the main character because of what she went through, but I can not believe a trained FBI agent could make so many mistakes. If you find out that your husband, an undercover FBI agent who excels in living a double life for his job and getting into harm's way and dealing with dangerous people, wants to scam the FBI for money and is working with one of his informants in a shady "jewelry business", you should then question his sanity and morality, not after he kidnaps you. The only thing this has going for it is that it is a true story otherwise, with the narrator's delivery, it comes off as a cheesy movie of the week.

A Great Listen

I have listened to this audiobook many times. The story is interesting and the narrator is great. I have no idea of how historically accurate any of the information is, but I enjoy it as a novel. Highly recommended.

Instant Egghead Guide audiobook cover art

I was disappointed with this book. I have not listened to all of this yet and I have mixed feelings. The subject is interesting but it is poorly written. It is broken into sections, the frontier, cocktail party tidbits, and maybe something else, which makes this difficult to follow and delve into the information. The author attempts to be witty and make the subject matter fun and this takes away from the enjoyment of listening to the audiobook. The jokes are not funny or clever and there are way too many to deal with. Someone should have been a little more heavy-handed with the editing.
