The news that humanity had been dreading for ages had come true. Zombies are real. Worst of all, we created them. The apocalypse was upon us, and every man, woman and child had to answer a simple question of themselves: "What do we do now?"

The blessing of anthologies is that you get more of what you want... quality stories that expand the universe in a way that fits "your" idea of how it should fit.

The curse of anthologies is that you get stories that don't "feel" right because the tone, pacing, or in this case performer clashes with the environment you have grown used to.

All-in-all it was a good listen/read. 4.5 out of 5 stars would recommend.

Interesting story. Unexpected path. Ending seemed phoned in, but it fits with the story and universe.

Will buy the next 3 installments.

The Range that William's displays is amazing. His stories, especially in the Freehold universe, each have their own voice. Each is unique and leaves readers wondering why we would want another year at Hogwarts, why Marvel superheroes have to fight themselves, and why modern media in general lacks creativity.

Encore Mr. Williams, Encore.

I must know Naumann's story.

This is is the fourth book in the Freehold series.

it is refreshingly unique from the other Freehold books in that it is a hard sci-fi novel, but then again no two books within the Freehold series is alike.

The book is hard sci-fi, but lacks the entrance fee of a hard science hobby. The story is thought provoking, what would to civilizations marred by war, but refusing to be defined by it do when they meet a second sentient species?

An all around good read and re-read.

This is classic pulp sci-fi, but is has a distinct red-meat hard core red state flavor that isn't gamey. Sure it's got some in jokes from the "Correia-verse" but like most in jokes they add color to the story, not structure. come on you can't lose with a story that has the likenesses of Chuck Norris, R. Lee Ermey, Joe Biden, and a very reserved take on President Obama...

and of course Wendell the Manatee!

So, I listen to Rush and hear all these people call in and gush about how great these books are, so I decided to pick up the first in the series from Audible because it is read by Rush himself. I figured it would be the optimal experience since the author (who speaks for a living) narrated his own book.
I didn't get past this first few minutes. I love the idea of making history more accessible for my children, but toilet humor? come on, no thanks.
