Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Michael Lewis short book "The Coming Storm" is, as one reviewer noted, more like a podcast than a book. At 2 and 1/2 hours it packs a lot of information about our weather and how terrifying tornadoes are. Having just lived through the "threat" (we in Hampton Roads Virginia dodged the Florence bullet) of Hurricane Florence and daily glued to the TV until we were evacuated I found the book all that more interesting. I have no regrets being told to evacuate and fortunately Florence suddenly on Friday took a miraculous detour to our south and east and hit North and South Carolina avoiding Hampton Roads. Those absolutely poor citizens in those states have been devastated! Listening to this book reinforced how "fickle" weather reporting is. Afterall, how do you predict Mother Nature. But why, with all the data and models available, did the NOAA and government get Florence so wrong? The weather channels and NOAA screamed a Category 5, direct hit to our area and by the Grace of God, nothing. Was it because President Trump was involved?

The most notable part of this book was that it educated me, a complete novice to the horse racing industry. The story was fascinating and I learned so much about an industry I knew nothing about. Some was shocking, the graft and corruption, some was wonderful, the love of the horses by trainers and most owners, and some was new, the amount of money surrounding the races and corporations.

I would recommend this book to anyone following the current triple Crown and the opportunity for "Justify", who has already won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness with just the BeLamont Stakes to go on June 9th.

James Comey haters will stop reading my review when I write, this book is the fundamental foundation why we as Americans must stand up for our beliefs. I am a 68 year old Vietnam veteran who was willing to give his life for his country and as a result sacrificed more than I can write here for doing that. I see the same values in James Comey. I do not see them in Donald Trump. James Comey so eloquently concludes, "I am writing at a time of great anxiety in my country...Donald Trump's Presidency threatens much of what is good in this nation...we all bear responsibility...our country is paying a high price..."

I consider this the most honest, straight forward truth of the state of America today. I am very afraid as events unfold of what the future holds? I believe that if Trump gets his way he will dismantle what he, and many believers, call the "Deep State" the FBI, CIA and DOJ. This would be a travesty. I hope and pray that this will not happen and our great country and institutions prevail!

The hero of John Kennedy Toole's incomparable, Pulitzer Prize-winning comic classic is one Ignatius J. Reilly, "huge, obese, fractious, fastidious, a latter-day Gargantua, a Don Quixote of the French Quarter". His story bursts with wholly original characters, denizens of New Orleans' lower depths, incredibly true-to-life dialogue, and the zaniest series of high and low comic adventures.

Where does Blood Meridian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The best ever!

What other book might you compare Blood Meridian to and why?

It's in a class by itself because of the graphic, explicit authorship. There is nothing else I have read/listened to that could compare!

Which scene was your favorite?

They all were so well read and written I wouldn't know how to isolate just one. The scene where John Joel Glanton is killed comes to mind but the judge and the kid's confrontation at the end is very poignant.

Who was the most memorable character of Blood Meridian and why?

No one character is most memorable. The Judge, the Kid, Glanton, the exPriest, Toadvine all were awesome.

Any additional comments?

I can't begin to say how much I enjoyed this book. I couldn't stop listening/reading it. The narrator/reader (Richard Poe) was superb and the graphic authorship outstanding. I strongly recommend having the written companion version since it will make the experience much better. Thank-you Cormac McCarthy and Richard Poe!
