Could you survive a week in a haunted house? Mara is the daughter of spiritualists. Her childhood was filled with seances, scam mediums and talk of ghostly presences. When Mara finally left her family's home, she vowed she would never allow superstition or false religion into her life again. Now she's ready to start over with her fiance, Neil, in a world based on rationality and facts. But her past isn't ready to let her go just yet.

Neal is a pushover. He should've dumped Mara's ass as soon as she began her temper tantrums.

And Mara's an utter bitch. I actually was rooting for the ghosts here, which isn't a good sign during a scary story.

You want the MCs to survive, to get out alive, even if at the end, they don't.

And on the contrary, during the majority of this book, I wanted Neal to die to teach Mara a lesson, or her to die so I didn't have to put up with her anymore.

Besides, after listening to audiobooks such as Hell House and It with their amazing narrators, I'm sorry to say that Piper Goodeve's work is not that great for this genre. You need a voice that traps you and keeps you on edge when your listening to a scary story, and hers definitely doesn't do that.

Rod Nelson is used to being someone's good time, and that's fine with him. Spending his days at his adult toy store, Rods-N-Ends, he never knows who he'll meet. The second Landon Harrison walks in, he has Rod's full attention. It seems as if Landon wants him too, so why won't the man jump in the sack with him already?

Sean Crisden annoyed the shit outta me with this one. The narration and Landon's voice were good, but Rod sounded like a woman, and lets just clarify that female voices are SO NOT this guy's strong suit.

Besides, the story wasnt that great. I liked the first installment waaay better.

I found myself daydreaming as I listened to the audiobook, which means it didnt get my attention, like, at all. Hence the oh-so-low rating.

Unpopular opinion ahead!!

I'm an adult fan of YA and I'm not ashamed of it. But as there are amazing YA books, there are stories that seemed bad mixed copies of books such as Vampire Academy, Twilight, Mortal Instruments and the like. This is one of those...

I heard once that every story has already been told, and I honestly believe that's true. Where's the trick, then? To give your book a fresh twist, something that makes the reader feel compelled to keep going, even if the plot is similar to others. Again, this book didn't do that.

I'm so not going to waste my time with the rest.

When his own boss sends in a psychic to help with the case, he's gutted - he's a level-headed copper who doesn't believe in such things, and he can't help but think that the arrival of clairvoyant Lee Tyack is a comment on his failure to find the little girl. But Lee is hard to hate, no matter how Gideon tries. At first Lee's insights into the case make no sense, but he seems to have a window straight into Gideon's heart.

Either way, I enjoyed it. I strongly believe it would've been better if longer, because the relationship between the MC seemed rushed, even though the story was slow at times.

The narrator sounded old. It didn't match with the "30 year old" MC.

Im a little sad, because after "Cake", this one fell in comparison. It wasnt bad, but definitely not as good.

It went more as a survivor's log than a romance, and I expected so much more from it.

Usually, Im all up for flawed characters, that makes them real for me, but in this case, it just annoyed me a little. Specially Kyle. I liked him so much in Cake, but here, his weakness of character made me want to bitchslap him a few times. Besides, he didnt do one single thing that made me believe he actually fell for Kenzie; it seemed to me that he went for it, even at the hospital scene, just because she was there, no more, no less.

And Kenzie? Well, she's just utterly and completely... blah!

I think the thing I really, REALLY liked was the clousure the brothers had about the kidnaping. Those scenes were the best in the whole book.

The narrators, flawless, as usual with Zachary and Andi.

I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office. Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me.

Sweet, compelling, sexy, cute. I really liked it...

But...

Ok, the first thing that knocked off a star was this question: Would Deke have gotten his head out of her ass if Justice hadnt been attack? I like my alphas, ALPHAS, going for what they want and not pussyfooting around it. But anyway, it happened and the romance was sweet and sexy.

The other half star I removed from my rating doesnt have a specific reason, I just felt something was missing. Dont ask me what, I still cant pinpoint it.

Other than that, the book was cute and fun and entertaining, not just very memorable.
