One of five children, Pat watched as her alcoholic mother struggled to get by on charity, cons, and petty crimes. At age seven, Pat was taught to roll drunks for money. At 12, she was targeted for sex by a man eight years her senior; by 13, she was pregnant. By 15, Pat was a mother of two. Alone at 16, Pat was determined to make a better life for her children. But with no job skills and an eighth-grade education, her options were limited. She learned quickly that hustling and humor were the only tools she had to survive.

Thank you Patricia for this book about your life and your philosophies of growing up in the "hood". Your book was both funny, fabulous and quite insightful as to the serious and overwhelming challenges of being poor. Being a white middle class family it has really opened our eyes. My husband, our 2 sixteen year old sons and I, listened to your book on a road trip and loved it. (now my parent talk about crime, teenage pregnancy and drugs is totally unnecessary) thank you from a mother. I wish you the best of luck with your career - you have made it! Ps. Your book is just as good as Kevin Hart's "I can't make this up" another family favorite!

What made the experience of listening to Bomb the most enjoyable?

This is a great book. I listened to this with my 14 year olds sons and husband. First off we got a super WW1, WW2 history lesson. Easy to understand along with being creatively interwoven into the story - with an understanding of how and why the bomb was created. Plus espionage and political struggle. Excellent narrator - great pick.
