Where does Barsoom Series Collection: 7 John Carter Stories rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As a new listener of audiobooks I would say this one ranks near the top. I just finished the first book of this collection, A Princess of Mars, and was riveted.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Barsoom Series Collection: 7 John Carter Stories?

Burroughs has a descriptive style that put me on Mars, living with John Carter and the rest of the characters. There isn't one particular moment that stands out but I liked the interaction/dialog between the characters. How they got to know and understand each other was interesting.

What does Eric Vincent bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Burroughs has a languid, descriptive style while ramping up the action in unexpected and exciting ways that draws the reader in. Vincent enriches this style with his baritone voice and obvious reverence for the material. His pacing and differentiated characters brought me further into the story that reading alone would not have accomplished. A new comer to SF, this seminal collection is a must listen for anyone wanting to experience the, dare I say, father of SF.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

Definitely looking forward to listening to the remaining 6 books of this collection!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to friends who enjoy audiobooks. I purchased the entire series for a recent trip to Minnesota because the flight would allow an uninterrupted block of time to really get into the stories.

What other book might you compare The Complete Wizard of Oz Collection to and why?

I would say Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass would be in the same fantastical realm.

Have you listened to any of Eric Vincent’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to other performances by Eric Vincent and I would say this is one of his better outings. The amount of material is daunting (`85 hours!) and he keeps the story interesting with different character voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I've not listened to the entire series yet so I prefer to wait to pick a particular moment.

Any additional comments?

While there have been lots of negative comments about no index, I found the lack of an index a non-issue. I began listening from the beginning and have been happily skipping down the yellow brick road with my new friends!
