A friend recommended the series and I'm loving it

5th book in and love the series, Dresden has everything a good main character should have, the stories have lots of twists in them and a great narrative. The reader is also great, making all characters come to life in an exquisite way.

The only thing I have to complain about is that the author repeats again and again, book after book explanations of who is who or how a certain spell works and that is getting tiring (e.g. You already told me what a soulgaze was all about in book one, why repeats it in the next 4.. and I guess in the rest of them?) ... This is a series with clear dependencies that won't let me read them in whichever order, I have to follow the series, hence I already know what you are talking about...

Other than that detail, 5/5!

This book has some great unexpected short stories, very Andy Weir style. If you loved his other books, you will love this one. Only downside is it's too short, but hey can't ask more of a "Short Stories" Compilation haha.

Perfect conclusion for a prefect series!

Perfect conclusion for a prefect series!
I loved this book as much as the previous ones. Besides the story, I love the way it is written (not a story but a collection of reports, recordings and letters that tell the story). Finally, the whole cast makes a great performance at brining life to the characters, I can't imagine myself just reading this book, it's as if it was meant to be listened to.

I really hope we get to see much more of this author in years to come.

Good for Lore, but nothing else

I loved all ME novels so far, but I struggled to finish this one. I pushed myself to listen to the end just to better understand better the pre-lude history of the ME Andromeda game.

IMHO this novel lacks a likeable and predominant main character and a more engaging plot. The story is quite flat, like "one more week in the crumbling Nexus", with a lot of predominant characters running around to solve menial issues, I really was expecting more of this.

If you are a ME fan and find this on discount, sure go for it, if not pass.

Too long and not that interesting

Since Black Site, these books are regretfully getting slower, with excessive descriptions and less interesting.

So yes a good and necessary part of the series, plus a great narration, but it has too many parts that are unnecessarily long and too much content not related to any of the main characters. I enjoyed the previous book much more, let's see what the book 3 brings.
