This book started off at a four stars for me .It had funny moments. I enjoyed the girlfriends dynamics, but some of the dialogues was way too long and overwritten that I became bored and sped up the narration which was a shame bc that was the best part. The back and forth argument with Erica and her mother, The long drawn out feelings about Mr Jones. It just went on for too long, I got the point. I ended up speeding the narration through just to get it over with. The narrator was amazing. This book good have gotten five stars, even four if it wasn’t so much unnecessary dialogues going on

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I absolutely loved it! It felt like home to me, from the family gathering because of the grandmother and cousins seeing each other after a long time. Looking for another book by this author.

I enjoyed this story, but the first two books were more relatable. The narrators are amazing and definitely made it worth while listening to. Let me not forget Uncle Leland! That character is funny as all get out. The narrators 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I must admit I thought that I would listen to this book, it would be ratchet and I would end up returning it, but I was wrong. I loved this story. It was a really cool romance story of a woman dedicated to her work and her daughter as a single parent who ends up with a man who she never thought would take a second look at her. I’m now looking for another book from this author hoping it is just as good. The narrators we’re great! That uncle Leland too funny! I loved his character!

This book contains two stories and the first one was a hot mess! The second story really good, but much shorter than the first so my review is mainly based off the first story.
Desiree is supposed to be so secure and confident in herself, but she is thirsting after a young disrespectful drug pusher; not feeling it. Not only is he disrespectful to her, he tells her that she doesn’t need to know everything about his life after she finds out he has a kid and girlfriend, he flat out rapped her and she still rolls with him. After 40 you usually know what you want, have standards and have little time for other people bs. The picture that is painted of her in the beginning is not who she really is and I had no sympathy for her outcome. She was not relatable to me and what really threw me was she pushed “her man”to hang out with her college student son, just weeks after being in a car with him where there was a shootout, and he’s a drug runner. Many parents try to steer their kids away from people like this and you are encouraging him to hang out with him because he is sexing you good, really. “Side eye” but had a problem with her son dating a white girl. She claims to be struggling, received alimony, but goes on shopping sprees. Then try to tell her young juvenile lover how to get his life on track and stop selling drugs when her own life is not on track. This over forty year old woman is a midlife crisis.

Definitely a book for pure entertainment purposes only because they are not relatable. I have no sympathy for any of them, they appeared weak and dumb to me. The fact that they kept referring to each other as bffs while betraying each other and knowing they had been betrayed. They also kept sharing their business with the one who betrayed them baffled me. As stupid as they were it was pretty entertaining hoping they would gain common sense.
