This Audible original full cast performance was another great experience and I'm glad that I picked up the entire trilogy of titles. This book makes a modest effort to wean us away from the Ripley legacy by focusing instead on an apparent descendant who has empathic abilities that may help him locate the Aliens when in close proximity. This mission has all the tropes of pretty much every other Alien story including corporate greed, space marines and characters you can't really trust. But that's all part and parcel when it comes to this universe and it makes for a fun listening experience.

It's been a few years since I last read this book and I figured the audio book might be a fun experience. And given the Stephen Fry narration, it totally was and this may be some of the most fun I've had with an Audible title even if it wasn't a full-cast performance. The story remains as witty as ever and hearing the words aloud reveal a bit of lyrical cadence and rhythm to the text at times.

And let's face it, the 2005 movie also helped cement the fact that Stephen Fry remains to be the only man who can truly performance this piece "properly" and to have the whole book read by him is treat.

I had rather enjoyed the First Doctor Box Set and was eager to explore a Second Doctor adventure as admittedly he's one of the incarnations of the Doctor that I've had little exposure to. The resulting story was certainly a product of its time with some depictions of gender concepts being a little problematic. The story is meant to be a somewhat lighter episode in terms of its tone and it certainly has its fun moments.

The second story in the set is actually based on the script of the unaired pilot for a US-targeted Dalek story that is all about the exophobic aliens and with no appearances by the Doctor. It's an interesting story in itself and it feels totally Terry Nation in feel.

Before he inspired the world with Hamilton and was catapulted to international fame, Lin-Manuel Miranda was inspiring his Twitter followers with words of encouragement at the beginning and end of each day. He wrote these original sayings, aphorisms, and poetry for himself as much as for others. But as Miranda’s audience grew, these messages took on a life on their own. Now Miranda has gathered the best of his daily greetings into a collection. Full of comfort and motivation, Gmorning, Gnight! is a touchstone for anyone who needs a quick lift.

If you follow Lin-Manuel Miranda on Twitter, then you'll already be familiar with his unique brand of positivity and encouragement. This book nicely collects a lot of these good morning/good night messages he has left on his account, which turn out to be also meant for him as much as everyone else who visits his page. As the description mentions, it's the sort of book that you can open at random and hopefully find some insight that strikes a chord with you. As an audio book listening to a chapter here or there is bound to lift your spirits and bring a smile to your face before you go back out to face the world again.

Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery. Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.

I wasn't expecting to like this audio book as much as I did, but Reese Witherspoon is a delight. She doesn't claim to have the best advice for different circumstances but instead just shares what she was taught and what she has come to believe given her Southern upbringing. She is a charing narrator and this short title doesn't pretend to be anything else other than what it is.

Also, the companion PDF is AMAZINGLY GENEROUS. It's a book in itself. and beautifully put together.

Given my previous exposure to this story was only through the filter of the movie Clueless, this was a somewhat tricky but still delightful listening experience. The diverse voice cast did a great job of bringing the characters to life although at times it was tricky keeping track of who was talking, especially when new characters come in.

But the story is a classic one for a good reason and while things seem to start out a little shallow everything comes together quite beautifully in the end. The way the tables seem to turn for Emma is really what defines this book and it's really one of the best moments of the novel.

I haven't had a chance to see the Broadway musical yet but I have listened to the music. I decided to listen to this audio book to better understand the story.

Things can seem a little darker and maybe even a little heavier without the benefit of a full musical score. But the emotional struggle that Evan goes through and the many lies that end up being told were also fueled by this innate desire to please others, even at his own expense. And that's a narrative that a lot of people can relate to.

This recording has a great narrator who really gives Evan a voice while also carefully using different pitches and speaking patterns that help shape the world around him and the people who come into his life as part of this story. It's a story that is both absurd in premise at first glance but also oddly close to home. And that makes for a great narrative.

We've all encountered different books by folks who have worked at Google but this was an interesting look at someone who served more of a support role than the seemingly "sexier" programming or management roles. We have a man who had a chance to re-engineer how HR works in order to adapt to Google's unique working style and love for data-based decisions. It's an inspiring book that's quite meaty in terms of details, systems and processes that might work in other companies or a least inspire other HR practitioners to apply more thought and data science to their own organizations.

In light of the newer Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise, it was nice to have this updated audio book performance of the fictional text book that had inspired the movie together with a performance by the star of the movies Eddie Redmayne. His particular tone and manner of speech really fits the character well and lends itself well to narrating this text about different magical creatures and their behavior.
