For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

What a lovely book. Though at times quite painful and possibly triggering to read, I really adored the story. It is a story of redemption and hope - pain and loneliness - beauty and demise. I absolutely adored all of the brilliant inclusions and descriptions of the natural beauty of the area.

Ellen O’Farrell is a bit unusual. She’s a hypnotherapist. She’s never met her father. And she can’t seem to keep a relationship going. (Okay, that’s more normal that we want to admit.) When Ellen meets Patrick, she’s hopeful nevertheless. But when he says he needs to tell her something, she fears the worst. When Patrick reveals that his ex-girlfriend is stalking him, Ellen thinks, "Is that all?" She’s more intrigued than frightened. She’d love to meet her. What she doesn’t know is that she already has.

Interesting listen, though felt it a bit too predictable and rushed. Spent sometime listening to the book where I would just ask myself why I kept listening. Definitely not my favorite Liane Moriarty book!!

I did not want this story to end! I loved this odd, mesmerizing book. Though cold and depressing at times, I really enjoyed the character development. I did feel it ended rather rapidly though; would love a sequel.

This is a creepy, suspenseful, sometimes unbelievable book that I actually loved. I feel creepy loving it though. It was weird but funny, gross, oddly-sexy, and intriguing. A fun book to listen to!

And I loved Santino Fontana's narration.

I spent the entirety of this book telling myself to have an open mind; scolding myself every time I felt the author was "reaching" for big descriptive words at a time when simplicity could have worked better; knocking myself down a peg when I felt I should just stop listening, wasting away those precious hours I spent listening to this book.

I felt the book was pointless, depressing, weak, trying-too-hard-to-impress. Overall a giant waste of my time.
