I have passed over purchasing this book several times for another that seemed more my interest. I made a grave mistake by not listening to this sooner. The story was rich and engaging. The characters entertaining and intelligent. The plot was unexpected. I loved every minute of this book.
The cherry on top of this delicious story was the amazing narrator. I rarely enjoy women narrators and actually passed this over initially because of that. However, I was wrong in this too. I will be looking for more books by this author and/or narrator from now on. Extremely well done!

I have been given a new, fresh respect for God. My heart has been radically changed, humbled, and strengthened because of the truths Dr Evans presented here. I am thankful God gave this too me when I desperately needed it. Thank you, Dr Evans, for being Gods mouth piece. This book needs to be listened to with your Bible open next to you.

I love the development of the characters. It's realistic yet passionate. Historically interesting ties give a genuine feel and make the time come alive. I liked the first book, but this second one is far superior in my opinion. I was moved to feel what the characters felt. Beautiful and interesting story that I hated to have to pause.

Fun and adventure for the whole family can be found in this book. This book left me with the satisfaction of an amazing bedtime story. It is a fantasy with new creatures and characters. It is a great balance of just enough depth to interest the adult and just enough simplicity to keep the kids begging for more.
Defiantly one that I will replay again.
My only complaint was minor (very minor) hesitations mid sentence by the narrator in a few places, and a few times a name was mispronounced, but I still knew what it was. Otherwise it was very well done. It was easy to keep characters straight with various voices.
All in all I recommend this book to anyone looking for good triumphs over evil adventure, without the cliche characters of most books. My kids enjoyed reading this book as pre-teens, and now as teenagers (13, 15, and 17) couldn't help but sit and listen every time I turned it on. Even my husband got sucked in.

If you are in the mood for a shorter book, but still want adventure, then this is the book for you. A fictional story based on a true story that depicts the life of a young woman caught in the chaos of the Sioux uprising.
I enjoyed listening to this book. My only draw back was the voice of the young Mattea in the first part of book was little irritating to me, but that is a personal preference.

I listened to this book twice in four days. I enjoyed the new approach and the variety in the story.
My only complaint is a few of romance scenes that seemed out of place or just plain irritating timing. That is not due to a poor story, but to my own personal conviction that I would have stood my ground with that arrogant husband not giving into a romp in the grass.
This was a great action packed love story following a woman having a major identity crisis. I laughed, cried, and became angry with the characters. Listen! It's worth it.

My one and only complaint is the abrupt ending. Otherwise, I enjoyed this book greatly.

I have purchased about half of all Le Veque's novels available on audible. Some I like, some I don't, but this one was amazing! I loved the narrators performance, and the story itself really moved me. At times I cried, laughed, was angry, and experienced real excitement. Everything about this novel and the performance brought great pleasure to me. The narrator's voice for Atticus was extremely hot. I replayed a few sentences just to hear his voice again.
I highly recommend it to all, but especial LeVeque fans. I couldn't stop once I started. That is unusual for me.
