I loved the cultural insights into the life of a Hopi between two worlds. It's always good to get perspective of real people who happen to be First Nations. However I was not prepared for the steamy romance which was laid on a bit thick. It would have been a good story were it not for that.

Where does Rock with Wings rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the better ones.

What other book might you compare Rock with Wings to and why?

Any Tony Hillerman novels. Picking up with characters her father created Anne keeps you from wondering "what ever happened to Chee and the others.?

Have you listened to any of Christina Delaine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't listened to toheres.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Navajo mystery the next generation.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book. Though not as detailed in Navajo culture, still a good story and nice to hear a woman's take on the characters.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I had a hard time listening to the reader. A bit in your face. Also, while the story line was good, there were abrupt changes that lost me for a while and no real character development. While I enjoy good action adventure I like to get to know the players a little more.

Would you be willing to try another book from Patrick Lee? Why or why not?

I might try another book by this author if it had a different reader.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I thought he was too abrupt, too strong a voice. It might have been what was required by the tone the author wished to create, but I found it unpleasant and I was easily distracted from the story.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked the idea of the story, but because I was so distracted while listening to the reader's voice, I often lost the thread.

Would you listen to Oak Wise again? Why?

Yes. I plan to listen to Oak Wise again and again, to really absorb the parts I heard, to hear the parts I missed, to review in light of changing perspective.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen in all one sitting, but I thought in future I would go back and listen to one section at a time and absorb.

Any additional comments?

I felt like the author was speaking for me, like she was articulating all the experiences of my own life, like she had gone into my own heart and put my own understandings into words. To me that speaks of truth.
