I didn’t know how much I missed Kim until I started listening to this book! One of the best female detectives out there! And Jan Cramer is outstanding! I can recognise who’s speaking before she even says it! My eyes teared up a few times! Can’t recommend the series enough!

Such a pity! The story is good and Kay is great! A lot of promises but the performer is horrible! Every sentenced it’s read in the same tone with way too much excitement which means a simple sentence like opening the door and the killer is revealed are read in the same tone. I am a very avid listener and this is the second time I have to give up on a strong DS story because of this performer... when she reads character’s dialogues it’s really ok but inbetween it ruins the entire story

When two young girls disappear from their primary school, the village of Heighington is put on high alert - and not for the first time. Called in to investigate, Detective Karen Hart is sure that parallels with a previous disappearance are anything but coincidental. DS Hart is still reeling from a case she tried and failed to solve eighteen months ago, when a young woman vanished without a trace. She’s no nearer to the truth of what happened to Amy Fisher, but with two children missing now, too, the stakes have never been higher.

I liked the book. The narrator was good at giving individual voices to the characters but her narration in between dialogues was monotone en ended in questions...story was great though and for once, there is a Detective series where the female Detective doesn’t have to fight with her male supervisor...hurry up and bring out the second book!!!

I liked the story and the character but i wished it wasn’t so frustrating. For an intelligent person he makes a lot of stupid mistakes and the “one man against the world” theory is tiring. It’s also a little scarpeta like when he seems to be the most intelligent person in the world and noone else sees the fact there is a killer... i wanted more of glenn and theo working together

I liked this first book. It was engaging, both lead characters are interesting and strong, and Katie Villa’s soothing voice made it a truly enjoyable listen. What I liked the most was the lack of whiney banter between the leads and the strong and supportive relationship between Kate and her superior. I am a huge fan of female detective books and what usually puts me off is the constant unfair treatment of the superior officers and how the female detectives are treated as irrational, emotional and outsiders. This one was a welcomed exception! Great start! Now on to book 2!

Not really annoyed with the ending... crazy and needless as it sounds... but I’m disappointed with the way Carol’s story was told. She was unstable, neurotic, fearful and that’s fine but most of all she was so full of herself that she thought the ending was the only way to get the guy... she was sure noone else in the world would be able to catch him and if she was out of the force it would mean he would keep killing... that was not the Carol I’ve been reading about for years. What happened at the end was the natural reaction of Tony and more predictable than the writer intended it to be...
