This was still the same fabulous story I read before, but listening to Joff Manning narrate allowed me to pick up on a few things I missed before. This is a relatively quick listen as far as audiobooks go, and it is worth the time. I love how love can change another of the Wicked Earls into a romantic, tender man. Pierce and Bianca make a wonderful couple.

At the height of the Great Depression, thousands of families who have lost everything are left with no choice but to make the pilgrimage westward in search of a new life. Some will find what they're looking for. Some will not and will then be forced to make the long journey back home. Then there are the others, those who never make it to either place because they made a stop along the way in a town called Exodus, an abandoned silver mining town in eastern Arizona.

This was a gruesome story, and you definitely shouldn't eat while reading or listening. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator, Rick Gregory, did a good job conveying all the details. It was an eerie but nice touch to include some of the actual music as the story moved, made me think differently about one song in particular. The ending was different than I anticipated and left me with a couple questions so I know I cared about what was going on.

Despite the time that passes by in this story, it kept me listening. Dave Gillies was again a great narrator. His change in voice for each character gave the story a personality. This is another great story by Amy Jarecki. Margaret and Colin suffered a lot in this book, but the homecoming was a tear-jerker and made my heart ache for them. Margaret was a very independent and smart woman, and managed to keep her life together. Once Colin got to know Margaret, he was more kind and considerate. Their love prevailed in the end, for which I am glad. This is a story that I highly recommend.

I enjoyed this story a lot. Having two people tell this story was interesting. Scarlet Chase and Aiden Snow helped the characters come to life. This was Bailey and Mason's story, second in the series. Two people who do not feel they deserve or have time for a relationship find they actually cannot control things that much. Despite his reservations, Mason was a wonderful person but once in a while became someone I did not like. He seemed real as he fought his emotions, someone to relate to. I loved Bailey's determination and duty to family. Between the two of them, their pasts definitely made me cry as things came to light. I highly recommend this story.

I loved listening to this story! Liisa Ivary kept me in the story. Secrets, pride, and fear of scandal put a lot between Sarah and Anthony. I enjoyed Sarah's tenacity in her feelings for Anthony despite how much he put her off. The mystery behind the romance was also exciting, watching the twists and turns. Having the women follow their own leads and still ending up where the men did was chuckle worthy. There were some tense moments, some funny moments, and some moments of tears. I recommend this story.

Her honesty was also endearing as she struggled with when and how to admit to her past. I found this a grittier look at that time period. James was a sweetheart and wanted his heart's desire no matter what. The narration by Carolyn Morris kept me listening as well. The emotions between Daphne and Daniel were strong, and gave the story that softer, lighter touch.
