In Hiccup the Viking's misadventures, the stakes have never been higher, and it's friend versus foe to decide the fate of the world. In this, the penultimate title in the amazing story arc that began with How to Train Your Dragon, Hiccup is faced with a personal dilemma against the backdrop of an impending battle and the possible destruction of everything he knows.

It's possible that we would have loved these books had they been read by someone else, but I'm glad we don't have to find out. David Tennant is outstanding. As far as audio performances go, this one is rivaled only by the Winnie the Pooh stories read by Judy Dench, Stephen Dry and Michael Williams and there were three of them rather than just the one reader. If you even remotely like the How to Train your Dragon movie, these audiobooks are a sure thing.

Jason and Rachel were not born in Lyrian. They did not grow up in Lyrian. But after all of the battles and losses, the triumphs and adventures, and most of all, the friendships forged in this fantastical world, Lyrian has become home to them in a way they never could have imagined. And so, armed now with the prophecy of a dying oracle, they have gone on their separate quests - each surrounded by brave and powerful allies - knowing that the chance for success is slim. But Jason and Rachel are ready at last to become the heroes Lyrian needs, no matter the cost.

I started this story on a 10-hour drive home; it made the trip seem much shorter. It was very creative and imaginative and I enjoyed it very much. I will recommend it to my 10-year-old grandson, my adult children, and anyone else who enjoys a good fantasy.
