I feel everything about this story and performance is average. I kinda of knew what was going to happen as the story unfolded and it just seemed....well, average.

The narrator was not bad or awful. She just...was.

The story was average and the characters were average. Actually, I was not drawn to the H or the h. SPOILER....

No one else in the reviews addresses the H getting oral from a different female after he meets his mate and then goes and has sex with said mate within hours after the oral. I get it. He doesn't finish. He leaves...but still. Another female's mouth on him? And it's not addressed? SMH Then...his mate knows he was with another female, although not in what capacity, and they just move on with no real communicating or getting to know each other. I guess this is the real overall issue.

I like insta love and bam! here is your mate just like the next person...it just has to be done very well and I don't feel this was given its due diligence. Others probably disagree and this is okay. This was just an okay story overall and I probably won't listen to anymore of the series.

Would you listen to Antarktos Rising again? Why?

Yes. I really enjoyed the narrator and the story was very intriguing...realistic or not. I really got a kick out of it.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the whole package. The narrator. The story. The characters. All of it.

What about R.C. Bray’s performance did you like?

I enjoy Bray's voice and how he reads. I found this book based on his reading of The Martian. Outstanding.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoy Jeremy Robinson's books. I finished his Kaiju series about Nemesis and had to find another story of his. This was it. I was not disappointed at all.

What did you like best about Highland Shift? What did you like least?

The overall story was okay and I liked the Scottish accents. What really bugged me was the lead female. There seemed (to me) to be a lot of common sense connections she should have made...especially as she is a lawyer and figuring her to be pretty smart. In terms of connections, I am talking about things she is told and then not tying them to the stuff she finds out...just seemed disconnected. Maybe it is just me, but she bugged me. She seemed a little slow and it was repetitive.

Would you be willing to try another book from Laura Harner? Why or why not?

Probably not. After the half way mark, I could not believe I still had another fifty percent to go. I put the book on 1.5 speed and at the end...I even skipped to just the beginnings and ends of each chapter to be done.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Noah Michael Levine?

The narrator was okay and had a good Scottish accent.

Do you think Highland Shift needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Since I am not going to be reading or listening to it...it does not matter to me.

Any additional comments?

I felt the story just kept going on and please understand, I LOVE audio books. I have tons and plan on getting tons more. I listen to all kinds and always try to have a benefit of the doubt for the narrator and the author...I know I am not the one writing or acting. However, I just could not stand the story or the lead female or what even happened in the end.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I find the word use by Connolly to be very evocative and entertaining. Plus, I really like the mix of mystery and other he infuses in his stories.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

For the most part. I do find it hard to be totally unbiased as John Connolly is my favorite author and I CAN'T wait for the next book...every book. :-)

What about Jay O. Sanders’s performance did you like?

He has a great voice and does the different accents and characters in a believable way.

What made the experience of listening to Whisperers the most enjoyable?

The story was great and how Connolly writes is just a pleasure to read. I think it's like word porn. LOL I thoroughly enjoy the descriptions, the vocabulary and the sarcasm he threads through everything. It is very witty. The actual listening was awful. I had to make myself listen I thought the narrator was so bad.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charlie Parker is always my favorite. We are on this journey with him and he has grown and developed as the books have.

Would you be willing to try another one of Holter Graham’s performances?

No. About one third of the way through the book it sounds like he tried to deepen his voice for Charlie Parker and to me it was very obvious. I feel he was wrong for this series because he sounds like a young college prep kid and not the grown man Charlie Parker is. The narrator's voice was too young and not deep enough.

Any additional comments?

If you read and have listened to the Charlie Parker series, then you need to listen to this also...just be prepared for the narrator's flaws (as I see them) and try to loose yourself in the words and the story.

Would you listen to The Burning Soul again? Why?

Possibly. I really enjoy the Charlie Parker series and have reread many of the books in the series. I am starting to build my Audible library with this series and have re-listened to one or two just because of time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charlie Parker is my favorite followed by Angel and Louis. I think they are great characters with great thoughts, exchanges and actions.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I was VERY hesitant about two narrators and subsequently it took awhile for me to be able to listen and tolerate the two. Eventually, I grew to understand the difference in the two narrators being who they were speaking for in the book. However, I did not hear a real difference with Louis or Angel.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When I realized who Randall Haight was.

Any additional comments?

I grew to tolerate the narrators; however, I am not sure I would listen to them again...unless for a book I HAD to listen to and they were my only choices.
